Has anyone used either group, the Society of Mayflower Descendants or the Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, for genealogy research purposes, and if so, with what success? My gg-grandfather (James H. Taylor, Charleston, SC) was a member of the Sons of the Am. Revolution, and one of his sons was, in addition to being a member of SAR, chaplain general of the Society of Mayflower Descendants. The SAR has a Patriot Index on CDROM containing over 600,000 family history records of Patriots and their descendants between 1880 and 1999. How much information would I expect to find, and would it be worth the investment? (If I have 2 ancestors known to belong, would that guarantee my finding family history records?) I would love to hear from anyone who has dealth with either organization. Thanks, Kerry McCarthy Wood Boston kmcwnu@aol.com
