    1. [SCHORRY-L] Re: RICHARDSON
    2. I'm cross-posting to the Marion and Horry lists, as the Richardson discussion seems to be going on on both lists. Apologies for duplicates. Unfortunately, the only thing I know about the G.W. Richardson who married Elizabeth Thompson in Marion County SC is that they were wed by the time her mother died in 1841. That means he was probably born before 1820. Elizabeth's mother was Mary Collins, daughter of Thomas Collins. Thomas Collins died circa 1840, and there is a Marion Co SC probate record for him (not much help). But a lawsuit about his estate was brought in Marion Equity Court. The documents in that Equity case show that Thomas Collins had a daughter named Mary. (I think I said Jane in a prior message, but I looked it up again and her name was Mary.) Mary Collins married John Thompson. Mary Collins Thompson died in 1841, and her children are named. They include one daughter, Elizabeth, wife of G.W. Richardson. I've found no further record of Elizabeth Thompson and G.W. Richardson. If anyone ever connects to them, I will be happy to send along your Collins information, and the little I have on John Thompson. The children of John and Mary Collins Thompson given in 1841 Marion Co SC Equity record were: John W. Thompson Stephen Thompson William Thompson Jesse Thompson Elizabeth Thompson, wife of G.W. Richardson by 1841 James Thompson an infant Of these others, John W. Thompson married an Edwards in Marion, and their descendant tells me that John W. moved to Britton's Neck or to Horry. At any rate, some of their children and/or grandchildren lived there - I am unclear on this. Sellers, in his "History of Marion County" says that Stephen and William Thompson moved to Horry. I've been unable to positively identify them in Horry census. If anyone has a clue on any of these Thompsons who went to Horry, please let me know. Jesse Thompson married a Williamson, and resided near and is buried at Gapway Church in Marion County. Jesse had no issue. I've found a number of records on Jesse, and they do confirm everything that Sellers wrote about him. James Thompson, the infant in 1841 Equity case (meaning under 21 years of age), I believe to have been my 2nd great grandfather, James T. Thompson. I've found many clues that they are one and the same person, but no concrete proof. As posted to this list before, James T. bounced back and forth between Marion, Horry, and finally to Bladen Co NC. His 2nd wife was Martha Harrelson, and she also had relatives in Horry, including her sister, Jane Harrelson Huggins. Further, my James T. Thompson had two sons by his first marriage, Solomon and William Thompson, both born in 1850s, who might have moved to Horry. The husband, John Thompson, disappeared from the Marion records shortly after the death of his wife. I have some reason to believe he might have remarried and gone to Choctaw Co MS between 1841-1850.
