    1. Re: [SCHORRY-L] Searching #2
    2. Martha's parents were Samuel Harper Singleton, b. 4/16/1824, d. 11/10/1905 and Charlotte Causey, b. 1/27/1827, d. 5/30/1902. They are buried at Hebron Methodist Church Cemetary located south of Conway, SC, near Bucksport. Samuel was my great-great grandfather. He built Hebron Church in 1848. The church still stands and is active. There is conflicting information on Samuel's father, John Singleton. The church history says that he built the first church, a brush arbor, that he died in 1826 and that he fought in the War of 1812. I found a publication this weekend in a library in Florence, SC that quotes the Independent Republic Quarterly and says that John ran a ferry at Bull Creek and owned a tavern in the 1740s and 1750s. That doesn't compute--if he was in his 20s in 1740, he'd have been in his 60s in 1812. There must be another generation in there somewhere. I've hit a brick wall about John. I have information on the direct line -- Samuel to Asa Walker and his children. I'm searching for information on Martha and Asa's brothers and sisters. Mary F. who married James S. Higgins Georgannah who married George Averill. Walter Lorton who married Martha Nora (no last name). Martha Jane who married Hugh Dew Ann Elizabeth who married Mahem Wilson and Richard Lee. I know where Georgannah and Mary F. ended up. I'm looking for descendents of Mary F. in Georgetown, SC. I've found Martha and two of her kids. Ann E. is bured at Hebron as is Georgannah. According to my mother, she and Mahem Wilson moved to Georgetown. Richard is a mystery. All I have is a letter he wrote my great-grandfather, Asa, in January, 1892 from a town that looks like Saussy, Georgia. He wrote on stationery from a company, M.L. Horton & Purdom, dealers in General Merchandise. The printing on the stationery is in old script, so I can't really make out the name of the town. Any help on any of these folks would be a big help.
