In your search for Grahams have you checked in the HCHS website under military records, civil war, to see whether or not your ancestor received a Confederate Pension? It seems to me that I remember seeing one or two Grahams on the list. If he did, then you should write the SC Dept of Archives and History in Columbia for his pension papers. They are on the web but they generally don't respond to e-mail requests. It has been my experience that the SCDAH are not always responsive and you may have to be persistent. Use the data in the HCHS website as proof of the pension receipt and stick to your guns. Also, if you are near Conway or plan on a visit, there is a big read book kept in the rear of the records portion of the County Judge's office in the Courthouse that is a ledger book showing Confederate Pension data which may be useful when you are levering the apps etc. out of the SCDAH. If and when I find the location of the Survivors Association's minute books etc., I will let the list members know and then get it put on the HCHS website.
