February 11, 2000 Dear Listmembers: I will do look-up requests at no charge, as time allows, to see if your ancestor was involved in the SC C.S.A. armed forces, or at least to see if he has a Compiled Service Record (CSR) on file at the National Archives. This is a big help in case you want to order his CSR because many times their names were mis-spelled or perhaps not in the unit that the family had thought and the clerks could care less about Confederates, it is a big headache to them and to do more than swat flies.
