    3. I hope this goes over as I intend it and will not taken in a negative way. I do not want any negative comments from this post. Nor do I want it to be seen as spamming on the mailing lists. Right now, it is: FYI - FOR YOUR INFORMATION Have you ever needed to go to another state to obtain information on relatives? I did. I need to go to Raleigh, NC. Well, as busy as life is, it took me five years to get there. I was in the NC Archives in Raleigh for two hours and left in tears. I had waited so long to get there and then NOTHING. My wonderful husband took me Burger King, we ate, and then went back. After 3 more hours, I was a little lucky. I found a couple of pieces of information that I could use, but nothing really to make the trip worth the cost. I am in the process of starting transcription service. My plans are to transcribe as many of the Horry County records as possible. I have started with the book of marriages prior to 1911, which I have contributed to the Horry County Historical Site for genealogy. I have completed the marriages of Book I, 1911-1916. I am also in the process of transcribing the 1870 and 1920 census records. My plans are to also transcribe the 1900 and 1910 census. I realize that many will look at this in a negatively. Genealogy should be free. But as we all know, nothing in this world is free. Someone has to pay for it. I paid for my 1850, 1860, and 1880 census records from Waccamaw Records. And, believe me, I was thrilled to do it. It kept me from having to sit down to read miles of microfilm, which makes me motion sick to begin with. If you have ever researched microfilm, you know how slow it is. I have been researching for 9 years and I suppose I'll research for at least 9 more (or 90). It becomes an obsession, doesn't it? I am working at publishing a web site. As soon as it is complete, I'll let the lists know. I don't plan to charge for everything. I have contributed quite a bit of information to the HCHS web site, and still plan to do so. I also plan to have information on my own web page for those researching Horry & Marion Counties. This is a two-fold plan. 1. To get more information out for genealogy bugs like myself, especially those who cannot get to Horry County to research family. 2. To help pay for the expenses of copies, transcriber, paper, mailing, etc. I am hoping that more people in other states will also work at this. I need information from Colquitt County, GA. Apparently there is not much genealogy done there. I can only find partial listings of cemeteries. I need some information from Broward County, FL, Martin County, NC and lots of other places. Please folks, if you're going to list a cemetery, please list the whole cemetery, not just part of it. I get so excited when I find a cemetery online that I need to check, only to find it has 8 members of a certain family. Any contact should be made by private email only, not through the lists. Thank you, Glenda
