    3. Cary Bailey is sending me sumpin' on a FREDERICK FAIRFAX...{:). David Strickland came from a whole bunch of STRICKLANDS!....{:). SYOTN Cousin Dan ----------------- -----Original Message----- From: Allen Fairfax [mailto:fairfaxa@hotmail.com] Sent: Friday, March 24, 2000 1:28 PM To: DFairfax@nespower.com Subject: Re: FW: Dobbs county musings Dan, The William Fairfax comes from the land warrant book for Revolutionary War veterans ... there were 4 listed as receiving land: Frederick Fairfax, heirs of William Fairfax, heirs of Dormand Fairfax, and heirs of Herrenton Fairfax ... Frederick and the William heirs sold their land warrants to William Faircloth (who I think is listed in the Dobbs/Johnston listings as well, and I think there are Faircloths in Columbus county listings as well) in 1786 (sold them on the exact same day, which makes me think that Frederick and William were related) ... did you make the connection between Frederick and Walter (for some reason, I thought you did ...I don't know why I think that) ... the heirs of Dormand and Herrenton sold their warrants to James Tiner (the lawyer on their legal document) in 1797 ... Did you ever see Fairfax, NC on www.mapquest.com?? I saw it in my North Carolina gazeteer book as well ...it seems to be on a Lake Cheowa (or something like that) .... its in the Smokies I believe ... sort of indicates a Fairfax wanderer early on I would think ... If you look at the Dobbs 1780 list, you will see that a Carter is a large landowner living right next to Peter ... We need to see if he had a will on-line ... maybe something got mentioned that would give us a lead ... See ya Dan'l (Boone!! as in the old TV series ... don't know why I remember people calling him Dan'l!!!) One more thing ... the David Strickland listed next to Micajah and Needham is probably his father-in-law, but did we ever figure out where he came from? who his parents were? its been awhile since I looked at the Strickland stuff....
