Dear Ruby: I have two George Hodges and one G.M. Hodges cited in "SC Troops" on page 228: 1. George, 1st Sgt. 19th Cav Bat, Co "E" 2. George 1st Sgt. 20th Inf Regt Co. L. # 1 and #2 may well be one and the same persons. You will need to order both of their Military Compiled Service Records from the National Archives, Textual Service Branch to straighten them out by comparing places of recruitment and dates of service. Also, contact Mac Wykoff's website at http:/members.tripod.com/mwyckoff/index.html for further info on the respective units as I know nothing of either. 3. Sgt. G.M. Hodges 6th SC Cav, Co. F. No George or G.M Hodges reported in "Broken Fortunes" as having died in the War. Larkin Hughes is reported on page 239 of "SC Troops" as 1st Lt. 2nd Rifles, Co. H. Without further research it looks like Mr. Hughes survived the War. It seems like to me that I have previously looked-up Goodman James either for you or some other SCHORRY member so if it is not you you might want to throw out a query for one of your kin who is also researching him. I do not have a Goodman James but do have a G. James reported on page 249 of "SC Troops" which is our man and he was a member of the 9th Inf Bn, Co. A and its successor unit 26th SC Inf Regt Co "A" which is the unit that my wife's G-Grandfather Asa Garden Causey served with and the subject of my upcoming website. I would be very interested in hearing from unit and sharing info on his service as that is the core unit of my website and I desparately want to put a face on the unit. It is a very under-reported unit which my website will help to rectify, hopefully. Contact me directly without going public on the SCHORRY if you own or know of any personal items, letters, diaries, or collectibles? It looks like Mr. James also survived the War but he was not on the Appomattox surrender list so he was likely captured at the Battle of Five Froks and imprisioned with Mr. Causey at Point Lookout Federal Prison Camp. As soon as I get a microfilm reader I willhave his records at my disposal as I have the service record on microfilm for the entire 26th as well as their "daily" reports logs. Hope that this info helps----Julian RCAMP65@aol.com wrote: > Julian & Carol, Thanks for the offer, can you look for, > George Hodges, br. Jan. 1, 1831 of Marlboro S.C. > Larkin F. Hughes, br.
