    2. Ruby Paul Dorman, 90, wife of the late Marden O. Dorman, passed away Monday, June 06, 2010 at Covenant Towers. Mrs. Dorman was born February 21, 1920 in Loris, SC, a daughter of the late John Brooks Paul, Sr. and the late Mary Shelley Paul. Mrs. Dorman was first and foremost a devoted Homemaker as well as the Co-Owner/Operator of the former Sea Shell Motel in Myrtle Beach. She was a member of Ocean View Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach. Her two brothers, John B. Paul, Jr. and Edsel Paul; her two sisters, Maude Radford and Elizabeth Hardee; and her son-in-law, Phillip Shearin, preceded her in death in addition to her parents and husband. Mrs. Dorman is survived by her children; M. Odell Dorman and his wife, Evelyn, of Conway, J. Michael Dorman and his wife, Rhonda, of Myrtle Beach, L. Douglas Dorman and his wife, Joan, of Myrtle Beach, Sherry Doyle of Conway, Carrie Pharr and her husband, C.C. of Asheboro, NC, Regina Shearin of Myrtle Beach, Lynn Krippel and her husband, Greg, of Myrtle Beach, Vanessa Gruenberg and her husband, Jeff, of Pawleys Island; her brother, Preston Paul of Loris, her two sisters, Betty Stanley of Hendersonville, NC, Hilda Butler and her husband, Jimmy, of Longs; eighteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.     2. CONWAY - Lisa Bennett Kleckley, age 52, wife of Jim Kleckley of Richardson Street, died Monday, June 7, 2010, in MUSC in Charleston, SC. Mrs. Kleckley was born in Conway, a daughter of J.C. and Mona Bennett, She was a member of North Conway Baptist Church where she was a member of the Celebration Choir and Tapestry Sunday School Class. Prior to retirement, she was employed by GTE/Verizon for 29 years. Mrs. Kleckley was a member of the Seadragon Motorcycle Club and Gold Wing Road Riders Association. She was an avid Gamecock fan. Surviving, in addition to her parents and husband, all of Conway, are: one brother, Jan Bennett and his wife, Deidi, of Lexington, SC; one nephew, Joshua Bennett; and one niece, Jordan Bennett. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m.Thursday at North Conway Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Gaskins and the Rev. Gary Reeves officiating. She was also predeceased by son, Richard Gibson Jr. Mrs. Gibson, affectionately known as "The Queen", was a graduate of Lake View High School, class of 1945 and McLeod School of Nursing class of 1948. She twice was awarded the Florence Nightingale Student Nurse of the Year. For the next 45 years, she was a nurse for various area hospitals and agencies. She was an active member of Christian Assembly Church. She loved her family, gardening, to travel and was full of life. Surviving are: sons H. P. "Sam" (Mary) Gibson of Florence, Warren Douglas (Ashley) Gibson of Conway, and J. Eric (Sarah) Gibson of Annapolis, MD; daughters Emma Stormie (James) Foxworth of Florence and Dixie (Jerry) Furr of Char-lotte, NC; daughter-in-law Sybil Bryant Montrose of Florence; sixteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren. Mrs. Dinkins was born August 19, 1919, in Horry County, SC, and passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2010. She was a daughter of the late Rufus James Huggins and Frannie Stroud Huggins. Mrs. Dinkins was a graduate of Floyds High School and Winthrop College. She was one of 13 siblings and always felt very blessed to be a part of such a large and loving family. As the devoted wife of a career U.S. military officer, Lucille served her country admirably alongside her husband. She willingly performed the many duties of a military wife and raised their three sons in four countries and in six states. She loved to tell stories of their many adventures as a family, most of them happy memories, but many of them quite serious and challenging, such as the time they were stationed in Germany during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Her husband was the commander of a nuclear warhead battalion and therefore unavailable to his family in the height of the crisis. Lucille was called upon to stand ready to evacuate her family alone on a moment's notice """ all while suffering from a bad case of the flu. Wherever she lived all over the world, Lucille was an active member of her church and community. For the past 41 years, she had been a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church and had joyously served in many capacities, including Sunday school teacher and senior choir member. She was also a member of the Whitehall Garden Club and the Gideons Auxiliary, Irmo. Lucille enjoyed time with her family and grandchildren, visiting her siblings, spending time at the beach, and traveling. She lived a joyous life and especially enjoyed serving others. Mrs. Dinkins is survived by her husband, Col. Holly W. Dinkins; sons, Dr. H. Kenneth Dinkins, Gene L. Dinkins and David H. Dinkins; brothers, Venston Huggins, R. J. Huggins, Furman Huggins, William 'Billy' Lester Huggins and Nolan Huggins; sisters, Muriel Blanton, Gussie Lally and Virginia Lee ; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was born February 19, 1931 in Conway a daughter of the late Benjamin Clarence Jordan and Nettie Skipper Jordan. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Claude, Hoyt and Carl Jordan; three sisters Leona Jordan, Dorothy Hardee and Dottie Hughes and one great-grandson C.J. Dodgens. Danette had a huge heart and loved her family very much. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, working cross word puzzles, traveling and telling jokes to make everyone laugh.     2. Connie Irene "A.C." Tanner, 61, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Connie was born in Conway, SC on May 21, 1949 and was a daughter of the late Anderson Arthur and Myrtle Aline King Tanner. She was also predeceased by her brother, William Arthur Tanner and her brother-in-law, Mike Powell. Connie graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1967; Spartanburg (Junior) Methodist College and Limestone College, Gaffney, SC in 1971. During her career she worked with several Physicians in the Myrtle Beach area to include Dr. Ragsdale, Dr. Harris, Dr. Kee and currently with Dr. Giddens at Grand Strand Surgical Specialists. Connie grew up as a member of Myrtle Beach United Methodist Church and later moved her membership to Faith Presbyterian Church, Myrtle Beach. She loved fishing and boating and enjoyed doing wood crafts. Surviving are a sister, Phyllis Tanner Powell of Myrtle Beach; two nephews, Allen Powell and his girlfriend Toni Benson of Myrtle Beach and Andy Powell of Myrtle Beach; a niece, Amanda Powell-Wooten and her husband, Jeremy of Myrtle Beach; a best friend, Barbara Bowman of Red Wing, MN and good friends, Julie Hudson and children of Myrtle Beach.     2. Bertie J. "Granny Bird" McDowell, age 81, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Granny Bird was born November 17, 1928 in Garrisburg, Virginia and raised in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina by Campbell and Mucy Hawthorne. Granny Bird loved golf and was a member of Myrtlewood Golf Course in Myrtle Beach. She was also a member of the Waccamaw Community Foundation in Myrtle Beach. Mrs. McDowell was the family Matriarch and will be long remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. Granny Bird was preceded in death by her husbands; Grady Wilson Jenkins, Sr. and Thomas McDowell; her daughter, Debra Gay Bisgrove; and her granddaughter, Kelly Ann Cox.     2. PICKERINGTON, OHIO - Evelyn Todd Barnhill, age 82, passed from this earth to eternal rest after a brief illness on May 24, 2010. She was born in Horry County, SC, September 12, 1927, to the late Whiteford and Lula Todd. Evelyn was a long time resident of John's Island, SC but resided with her daughter, Judy, in Pickerington, Ohio the last 3 and 1/2 years. She was the proud wife to her husband, Freeman, and a friend to all she met; goodhearted and thoughtful, she was the core that her family revolved around. Evelyn attended the First Baptist Church of John's Island, SC, and the Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church in Ohio. Preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Freeman C. Barnhill and brother, Henry P. Todd. She is survived by her sister, Onieda Todd; four daughters, Jan E. Kelley of Robbinsville, NC; Judy F. (Buck) Boyd of Pickerington, Ohio; Peggy L. Mixson of Hilliard, Florida; and Patsy G. Barnhill of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren, Michelle L. and Anthony C. Anderson (Judy); Jessica L. (Nick) Runge and Joseph R. Mixson (Peggy); and Callie L. DeHorse (Patsy); two step-children, Tracie M. and Dennis M. Boyd (Buck); three great-grandchildren, Trevor J. Braxton (Michelle) and Francesca and Abigail Runge (Jessica); as well as many special family members and friends both in SC and Ohio. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services in Charleston, SC at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Friday, May 28, 2010, at eleven o'clock. Mrs. Smith was born November 24, 1927 in Horry County, SC a daughter of the late Lewis Curtis Shannon and the late Jane Stevens Shannon. She was a homemaker and was predeceased by her brother: L.C. Shannon. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband: Eldon "Ed" Smith of the home, one daughter: Linda S. Parker and her husband Daniel of Loris, her two grandchildren that were her pride and joy: Breck Parker and Shannon Parker, both of Loris, three sisters-in-law: Shirley Shannon and Cara Bell Stevens Todd, both of Loris and Mae Ellis Todd of Wilmington, NC and many loving nieces and nephews. She was a member of Berea Baptist Church.She was a retired Teacher's Aide with Horry County School District and a lifetime farmer. In 1994 Horry Electric named her Rural Lady Of The Year.     2. Vera L. "Peanut" Chestnut, 85, of Rodney Rd., passed away peacefully at home Friday, May 21, 2010 after a bout with Cancer. Mrs. Chestnut was born in Horry County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Rosa Della Holden Lee. She was a member of Ridgefield Baptist Church. Working as an LPN for many years she touched the lives of all her patients. She was deeply loved and admired by her family and friends. Mrs. Chestnut was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence M. Chestnut; one son; Clayton Chestnut; one daughter; Audrey R. Dillinger, seven brothers; and one sister. Survivors include three daughters, Vera F. "Krickett" Miller and husband, Roland, of Tallahassee, Fla., V. Gail Drouillard and companion, Mel, of Myrtle Beach, and Alice F. "Bunny" Spears and husband, Carold, of Conway; one brother, Clyde Lee of Murrells Inlet; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
