Molly Ann Brown Stevens, 87, widow of the late Heywood Grover Stevens, died peacefully Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Conway Manor. Mrs. Stevens was born in Conway, S.C., a daughter of the late Rant and Beattie Lewis Brown. She was a beloved mother and grandmother. Surviving are two daughters, Darlene Stevens Byer and husband, Brent Byer, of Rockville, Md., and Marcy Stevens Terry of Conway, S.C.; a son, Heywood Rant Stevens and wife, Cheryl Stevens, of Conway, S.C.; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her daughter, Hilda Ann Stevens. Henry Grady "H. G." Cox, Jr., age 86, passed away Tuesday night, August 17, 2010 at Loris Community Hospital following an illness. Mr. Cox was born April 22, 1924 in Horry County, a son of the late Elder H. Grady Cox, Sr. and the late Lena Prince Cox. He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving his country in World War II where he earned a Purple Heart. Mr. Cox was a member of the Forty and Eight, American Legion Post 41, the Lion's Club and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He was a lifetime member of D.A.V. Chapter 73 and was instrumental in obtaining the first van that carried veterans from Loris to the V.A. Hospital in Charleston. He also helped secure the Veteran's Memorial in downtown Loris. Mr. Cox served on the Loris High School Advisory Board for ten years and was a longtime member and participant of the Coffee Club that meets at Shorty's Grill in Loris. He was a retired agent with Investment Life and Trust Company where he was employed for thirty six years. Mr. Cox was a member of Simpson Creek Primitive Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was predeceased by one brother, J. Elton Cox; and one sister, Shirley A. Cox. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Eloise G. Cox of the home; one son, H. Keith Cox and his wife, Sherryl, of Latta; one daughter, Lisa Kay Cox of Loris; one brother, Clarence Cox of Loris; one sister-in-law, Fannie Cox of Loris; two grandchildren, Logan Cox and Kerry Lee Cox both of Latta; a special caretaker and friend, Seletha Long of Loris; and several nieces and nephews. In additions to her parents, she was also pre-deceased by her husband, Willard Dix; two sons, Billy and Roger Dix; one grandson, Jack Dix; two brothers, Buddy and Donnie Alford and one sister, Doris Cooper. Gertie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, her family meant everything to her. She enjoyed meeting and helping others. Gertie loved quilting, sewing and working with her hands. He was retired from Detyens Shipyard in Charleston, SC, and was a member of the Naval Reserve. He was a retired carpenter and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and woodworking. John Hoyt Causey, 83, husband of Geraldine Barnhill Causey died Friday August 13, 2010 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Born on July 23, 1927 in Conway he was a son of the late Sam Causey and the late Minnie Hardee Causey. Mr. Causey was a member of First Assembly of God, was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired after 65 years as a truck driver. Mr. Causey's happiest days were fishing with his sons and grandsons and reminiscing about his days on the road as a truck driver. Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; two sons, Larry Causey (Denise) of Spartanburg and Barry Causey (Cathy) of Georgetown; a daughter Teresa Michau of Georgetown; five grandsons, two granddaughters; eight great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Rev. Joseph B. Faircloth, 95, of Conway, died Friday, August 13, 2010. He was born August 8, 1915 in Whiteville, North Carolina, a son of the late Ben and Amanda Beck Faircloth. Mr. Faircloth was predeceased by his wife, Margaret R. Gore Faircloth of seventy one years. In addition to his wife, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Carl Faircloth and Leamon Faircloth; four sisters, Vera Cucksey, Ella Singletary, Lizzie Ward and Addie Ward; and one granddaughter, Jacquelyn McDermont. Rev. Faircloth was the pastor of Faith Tabernacle located on Hwy. 501 for three years. He pastured eleven churches during his ministry. Mr. Faircloth was also a piano tech and owner of Faircloth Barber Shop for twenty years. He was a loving father, son, brother and friend. He enjoyed sharing God's Holy word. Mr. Faircloth always put others before himself, especially those in need. Rev. Faircloth is survived by two daughters, Brenda Faircloth and Linda Williams, both of Conway; three grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; and many other family and friends who will miss him. Conway & Pawley's Island....On Monday, August 9, 2010, Madge W. Langston departed this life and went home to the Lord. Mrs. Langston was born August 21, 1915 to Susan and Sam M. Wingate in Chesterfield, SC. For many years she owned and operated Madge's Beauty Shop on 13th Avenue in Conway, SC. She devoted her life to loving and raising her 2 daughters, Jo Dean and Susan Richardson. After her husband, Wilbur S. Richardson died, she met and married Bud LaRue Langston. They lived in Pawley's Island, SC and had over 20 beautiful years together. There she worked with her dearest friend, Susan Hill Tyler at Ruby's Beauty Salon. Mrs. Langston retired at 82 in good health and eventually came to live with her daughter, Susan in Charleston, SC. She died after a courageous 1 and a half years battle with ALS. We were blessed with the World's Best Mother and Grandmother and she will be so missed by her 2 daughters, Jo Dean Bauknight of Columbia, SC and Susan Hihn of Goose Creek, SC; 4 granddaughters, Barbara Brickley, Kim Smart, Joni Allen and Amy Armstrong; one grandson, Chuck Bauknight and 12 great-grandchildren. Bessie Emmaline Branton McDonald passed away on Monday, August 9, 2010, at Lexington Exteded Care, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. McDonald was born July 18, 1927 in Horry County, S.C., a daughter of the late Thomas Leamon and Kittie Belle Norman Branton. She was a loving mother and homemaker, was widowed at a young age. Mrs. McDonald was employed as a seamstress and as a cafeteria cook at Kingston Elementary School in Conway, S.C. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, singing and watching her children and grandchildren grow up. Mrs. McDonald was a life-long Baptist who was a member of Sweetwater Branch Baptist Church in Conway until moving to West Columbia to live with her daughters in 2007. She joined Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church in 2008 where she was a member of the Loyal Workers Sunday School class and the Clyde Hendrix Circle. Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward McDonald, Sr.; and their son, Paul Edward McDonald, Jr.; as well as two brothers, Rembert and Walton Branton. The family would like to thank Dr. John Black and the staff at Lexington Extended Care who lovingly took care of her for the past four months. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-laws, Jeanette and Bill Hornsby, Pam and Ghent Brewer of West Columbia, and Lisa and Bobby Holmes of Conway. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tom Hornsby, Laura Hornsby, Paul (Jenny) Madden, Jamie (Lisa) Nobles, Marie Kamp, Paula McDonald, Justin (Heather) Brewer, Jeremy Brewer, Hannah Holmes and Holly Holmes; as well as great-grandchildren, Trey Nobles, Noah Kamp, Lucas Kamp and Chloe Majors. Also surviving are sisters and brothers, Winona (Wilfred) Benton, Doris Todd, Franklin (Linda) Branton, of Conway; Tim (Jonnie) Branton of Georgia, and Jerry (Mildred) Branton of West Columbia. She is also survived by 28 nieces and nephews and loving extended families. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, with the Rev. Jack W. Marlowe, 74, of Conway, S.C., died Monday, August 9, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice after a long illness. Mr. Marlowe was born in Horry County, a son of the late Jeff and Annie Bell Marlowe. He was predeceased by his wife, Jeronia R. "Jeri" Marlowe; and two brothers, Geter and Earl Marlowe. Surviving are one daughter, Jackie Todd and her husband, Thurman, of Spartanburg, S.C.; three step daughters, Vera (Donnie) Cusack of Georgetown, S.C., Dianne (Robert) Rodriguez of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Angie Elvis of Conway; two step sons, Jeff (Cindy) Martin and Nelson Martin, both of Conway; one brother, Wendel Marlowe of Gresham; twenty five grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; one great grandchild; special friends, Wendell and Kathy Cooper of Conway and many other family and friends who will miss him. Robert Allen "Pete" Daniels, 69, of Live Oak Street, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Conway Medical Center following an illness. Mr. Daniels was born in Conway, a son of the late Wade Hampton and Winnie "Walker" Johnson Daniels. He was a 1958 graduate of Aynor High School. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the City Of Conway. Mr. Daniels was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and had attended Jamestown Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Smith Daniels of Conway; one son, Kenneth Hampton Daniels of Conway; two grandchildren, Matthew Scott Daniels and Haley Elizabeth Daniels; and two sisters, Alinda Daniels Johnson of Aynor and Joanne Daniels Timmons of Florence; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hoyt Elwood Tyler, age 71, died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Loris Community Hospital following an illness. Born July 15, 1939 in Loris, SC he was the son of the late Reverend Norman Emmett Tyler and the late Mrs. Mary Jane Barnhill Tyler. Mr. Tyler was associated with Howard Johnson restaurant and was the former owner of Red Barn Restaurant in Lake City, SC. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a longtime member of Cane Branch Baptist Church in Loris, SC. Survivors include his wife: Barbara Tyler of the home; two daughters: Teresa Suddreth and husband Mike and Mary Darlene Rogers all of Florence, SC; two stepchildren: Emory Boyd Stephens and wife Amanda of Florence, SC, and Barbara Nell Howard and husband Gary of Lake City, SC; two brothers: Larry R. Tyler and wife Carole of Little River, SC and Ronald E. Tyler and wife Pat of Hickory, NC; two sisters: Pearl Shelley of Loris, SC and Gloria Joan Speer of Dallas, GA; six grandchildren: Vanessa Smith, Lance Tyler Rogers, Matt Stephens, John Stephens, Vangie Thigpen and Meredith Jeffords; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Tyler was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Mr. Michael W. Tyler. Georgia Long Graham, age 78, wife of the late Pern Ibra Graham, of Hendrick's Shortcut Road, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 at her home after an extended illness. Mrs. Graham was born in Conway, S.C., a daughter of the late William Mack and Sallie Clayton Long. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Conway Hospital Admissions office. She was predeceased by five brothers, Ben, Ned, Woodrow, Charles and Kingston; and two sisters, Edith L. Jordan and Lorraine L. Durant. Surviving are three children, Sandra Graham of Conway, Ron I. Graham and wife, Pam, of Galivants Ferry, Karen G. Nobles and husband, Mike, of Conway; three grandchildren, Aaron and Beth Anna Graham of Galivants Ferry and Lauren Dunivan of Odessa, Texas; two sisters, Cecile Bell and Virginia Booth; one brother, Clayton" Sonny" Long and wife, Minnie Bell, of Conway; and numerous "special" nieces and nephews. Mrs. Graham was gentle, soft spoken, patient and kind with many close and special friends. She will be loved and remembered by all who knew her.
