HELLO ALL, I know we are all getting busy, since summer is closing in...... There are going to be some beautiful days this season, I hope all remember to take some take out to smell the roses, and spend time with family members! I have to Thank everyone who has been busy getting information off headstones! This info for me is the most helpful! Since I live in OK., You have given me middle names of kinfolk, and dates I didn't have! And for those who have transcribbed info from the census, wow! I would have to Thank you also! The countless children you have given to me, that I wouldn't have known about! The most important thing is everyone wanting to share and contribute any info, even if it seems like it doesn't help in researching, it does! And there is a hard part of researching which most either don't have time for or don't want the responsibility of........ organizing all this helpful information! I have to really let everyone that has been a part of organizing get a great big "Thank You!" I realize what a job this is! and I am very greatful to know that we are all somehow related! I have not seen any arugements on either of these mailing lists, like others! Maybe it's our ancestors and that southern style of manners! I know my ancestors tought me southern style manners! Okay all, this list has been really quiet, I don' t have any "new" info to add. I just wanted everyone to realize we still have to get off the PC and let are now living relatives know how much we care about them! Take time out, just for your family! I love all of you as if we had known each other for years! Because all of you make me feel this way! I guess I am going on, because I want you all to know how important you are to this list! Love all of you and take care! have a great weekend!;) Princess Lovell-Bigwhip

I'm looking for information about the parents of Ebenezer L Skipper and his wife Sarah Graham. Ebenezer and Sarah would have been born in the mid-1800's. I think Ebenezer's father's name was Arthur (Aruthus?) Crawford Skipper and his mother's name MAY have been Catherine, but that's all I know about these families. Can anyone help me with these? Actually, I don't think it's the bushel or so of soybeans that a cemetery in a field might produce. Seems to be all the trouble a farmer has to go through to run the tractor around the gravestones. Much easier, you know, to plow in a straight line. Actually, mules didn't seem to like plowing around cemeteries, either. My great great grandparents' graveyard was plowed over about 1915. I also know of one cemetery where the stones were drug down the hill into the river swamp. <<This week I surveyed this cemetery looking for relatives and to put it on the Brunswick Genweb site. To my dismay there were only 5 stones left.>> ==Jo== (Jo Church Dickerson)
These Skippers are before my Skipper's time. Can anyone help him? Thanks, Pam -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Skipper Date: Mon, 17 May 1999 23:27:40 EDT From: JWMSkip@aol.com To: jricks@surfsouth.com Hi, I am interested in the Skippers of North Carolina.I am descended from Joseph Skipper from Onslow Co., N. Does anyone know if Noah McDuffie Lewis (26 Jul 1886 - 5 Jan 1957) is the same person as Duffie Lewis, son of William M. Lewis ( 31 Jan 1855 - 24 Jun 1924) and Sarah Jane Barnhill (5 Jan 1852 13 - Jun 1924)? Thanks, Robert E. Lewis
We were all outraged at the destruction and desecration in Patterson Cemetery. We could not understand why these young people did such a thing. Well it is not always the young or foolish. Sometimes it can be the upstanding people in our communities. The overanxious developer, a greedy farmer or someone just does not care as long as they are not his relatives. Case in point. When I was young I remember these glistening white and marble tombstones sitting in a cemetery out in the middle of a field. Even as a young lad I noticed that each year is seemed there were fewer stones and wondered if the few dollars made from a few more bushels of soybeans or corn was that great. To the best of my memory there were 20-25 graves. This week I surveyed this cemetery looking for relatives and to put it on the Brunswick Genweb site. To my dismay there were only 5 stones left. Someone had put steel posts and a chain around the remaining stones, but, to a large tractor they weren't much resistance and so one of them had been knocked down. We the genealogists need to watch the cemeteries, especially those that seem to be abandoned. For us they are a gold mine of information that once lost are irreplaceable. here it is, Danny Beck Cemetery Located in Brunswick County on US 17, 3/4 mile north of NC/SC State Line on west side of US 17 in a field. Easily accesible but unkept and overgrown. surveyed on 12 May 1999 by Danny Lee Blanton 1. Beck, Edna M 28 Jun 1912 - 11 Jan 1930 2. Beck, Della Virginia 30 Aug 1921 - 15 Oct 1921 3.
