Have been trying to find my uncle, Donald Gary Wiggins, originally from Marion, SC, married a girl from Des Moines, Iowa, later moved to California. What part I have no idea. We haven't heard from him in 12 years and haven't seen him in twenty. His wife's name is or was Pattie, and they had three children. One son and two daughters. I've searched for two years for him and not a trace. Any one heard of him out there? He was an industrial and individual painter and would be fifty-nine years old. My g-grandmother was Sarah Jane Barnhill (5 Jan 1852 - 13 Jun 1924). I don't know where in SC she was born, but she married William M. Lewis 14 Mar 1877 in Horry county. She died in Aynor and is buried at Red Hill cemetery. Unfortunately I have very little information about her. She was the daughter of Joe Barnhill and Narcissa (or maybe Lucinda) Jones. Do we have anyone researching Barnhill's? I descend from David Barnhill (my gggggg grandfather) b 1695 in Scotland and married Margaret Fleming. David migrated to Kent Co. (Dover) DE, where he met Margaret and had a family. Some of them moved on to Pitt County, NC, (where I hear that some are still living at the present) and later some came on to SC. My gg grandfather, Stanley David Barnhill who married Louisa Beaty Cooper in 1855, and my great grandfather, Curino Barnhill, ended up in Horry County. Curino married Susan Adeline Huggins first and then Emma Caroline McQueen. My grandfather, Ole Evan, descended from the the first wife and was born in Horry County but later moved on across the line to Marion County where my mother, Virginia, was born. She married my father, Clarence Jordan of Horry County and that is why I am here in Horry County, SC, today. (God's country) Think you might connect someway? Please let me hear from you if you do. I'm hoping someone can tell me how to find out who Elizabeth A. is. In the 1860 census, she was married to D. Miles Gilmore. According to the census, he was born in SC and Elizabeth in NC. I don't know what her maiden name was. He disappreared and nobody seems to know where he went. I think he got in some sort of trouble, but don't know anything for sure. I know Sarah Tyler is buried at Cane Branch in Allsbrook but I cannot locate any information on her son John T. Tyler or her husband or her daughter, Clarke(sp). John and Samuel Green-her other son that is also buried at Cane Branch-are listed on the 1870 Bayboro Twp census but I have not found a husband. Daughter Clarke must have not come along yet as she doesn't appear until the 1900 census in Columbus Cnty, NC Any information from anyone out there would be appreciated.
Dear List, I have received several letters from people wondering if I'm still here, okay etc. This is to let everyone know I am here and doing just fine..I've just been terribly busy. We decided to try and plant a small garden on this mountain of rock we live on. I think it's the dumbest idea my husband has had in years (he said it was my idea though :) ). It looks like it will all die so I'm just thankful we aren't counting on it to "eat". Anyway, thanks for your concern (for those who were) but I'm just skippy and the rest of the family here are doing well. The grandson is "of course" absolutely perfect. He is 16 months now.
