    2. Thanks Julian, That entry about letting me know if you need my information about Tyler's was meant for someone else. I don't know how it got posted to everyone. I do know now to post a name before my entries. I looked on the Horry County Website for people receiving pensions because of lost limbs, etc., but the only John Tyler listed was a lot older than my relative would be. I will keep it in mind though when I find the generation before him.

    3. you don't get the point. I am not researching the Tyler family, only in-so-far as tbey may have served in the WBTS. You can learn alot about almost any Horry County Family just by checking their service records and pension bio data held at the SC Dept of Archives and History but you need to get the particulars re. that service, i.e.- unit number and wounds if any. 2. In the 1900 census for Bug Hill Twp., NC, lists Clarky L. Benten, born Oct 1873 in SC married to William K. Benton, born July 1868. They were listed as being married 6 years. Lizzie A. Benten was a daughter listed as 5 yrs old born in December 1894 in NC. There was at that time also a son, Jesse M. Benten, 1 yr. old, born Aug 1898. Sarah Elizabeth Tyler, age 54, was living with them at that time, born in Oct 1845 in SC. That's all I have, except that William was a farmer. At that time though almost everyone was in that part of the country. Almost all my relatives even now that still live there are farmers. I know that census stuff, even death certs, can be misleading so I hope that we have a link somewhere. (Don't let that death cert comment rattle you, I just found out that what I thought was Sarah's death cert wasn't after having it 2 years. SC did the best that they could based on the little info I had.)

    3. Attempting to learn more about my Granger/Grainger heritage of Horry Co. The history as I have it now is included below. The Furney who heads the line may have been properly named Furneford, possibly the son of a Samuel Grainger of Horry Co. At this point, I'm wondering if the Willis listed may have actually been the son of one of Furney's brothers. I'm wondering as I was recently informed that the James R. listed as another of his sons was apparently the son of a John Grainger who ended up in Pike Co, AL. I believe that you will find some of these surnames there and then you can order their pension material from Columbia, SC Archives. good luck---Julian Lamar Thompson wrote: > > Hope, > My name is Lamar Thompson and I have a good bit of info on the Gerralds (all > spellings) of Horry. I have a Sarah Elizabeth Gerrald in my files, born in 1855, married to a Lewis (Toby) Tyler. She died 9/5/1920. Her father, by my files, was William (Garrell) Gerrald. This was the first of his line to change the spelling to Gerrald. Not sure this is the same Sarah Elizabeth that you are referencing. How sure are you of the names you have? There could have been another marriage to another Tyler, either before or after, but the birthdate is also 10 years off, which could be an error in the data. I will try to check a little farther sometime later if you think it is possibly the same lady. Let me know what you think. 1. Re: [SCHORRY-L] looking for information
    2. Thanks for your reply. First let me say I have two certificates relating to Sarah, with what you have told me and a quick phone call to my Aunt in Loris, I had a revelation that the information I had understood to be right was wrong. My great grandfather's death cert lists Sarah Elizabeth Carrell as his mother and Sam Green Tyler as his father. What I believed to be my great great grandmother's, Sarah, death certificate, is the Sarah you wrote to me about. I believed my father when he said both certs were written by his father, Jasper Zeno Tyler so I never checked any further, just accepted that it was right. The Sarah I am looking for was born in 1844/45 and died in 1913. I knew the dates were wrong on the headstone according to the cert, so I was looking for another document to confirm it one way or another. I believe that SC did not keep death certs before 1915 but I'll find confirmation one way or another!! Thanks again for answering me so soon.

    3. Seek information on a Daniel Johnston, Born abt 1788 who married Edith Strickland, daughter of William Strickland. Daniel and Edith Strickland Johnson are both mentioned in the estate papers of William Strickland in 1828. It appears they lived in the Methodist Rehobeth area of Horry County. Daniel Johnston is listed in the 1850/60 Horry County census with wife Annie. Think Edith may have died before 1850 and Annie may have been a second wife. Any information on Daniel, Edit & Annie and their descendants would be appreciated. Jim Strickland
