    2. Sonja Phipps
    3. Is there anybody researching the Johnson family in Horry County, SC? Callie (or Cally) Johnson is buried at Cedar Grove cemetery. Her death certificate does not show who her parents are but one of her granddaughters remembers her father speaking of an uncle Tom or Thomas. There is a Thomas Johnson in Bunker Hill cemetery but I don't know if he was related to her or not. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks, Sonja

    2. Please excuse my attempted answer a few moments ago. This stupid AOL or computer of mine cuts me off right in the middle of something. My g-grandmother Emily Barker married my g-grandfather Charlie Cooper. One of their sons, Joseph Cooper married a Martha Lewis of Horry County. She died in 1906, dec. and I can't find a thing on her either. No mother, father, sis, or bro. My Emily Barker Cooper was born 5-6-1859 died 9-19-1934. If you have any thing on her, please let me know. Thanks, Pearl

    2. Sonja Phipps
    3. I'm hoping somebody can help me on my brick wall. On the 1860 census you'll find D. M. Gilmore (39) along with his family, Elizabeth A.(27), Louisa(6), Benjamin (3), and William P (1). D. M. was known as Miles. At some point after the 1860 census, he disappeared due to an altercation concerning a "gander pull". He was accused of cheating and might have cut the accuser. D. M. fled thinking the accuser was dead and never came back or contacted his family. On Benjamins death certificate, his mother Elizabeth's maiden name is written as Betsy Barker. Are any of you researching the Barkers in the Daisy area? Does any of this look familiar to any of you? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, Sonja

    3. (obituary for William H. Singleton by his son and daughter-inlaw) On May the 11th, 1930, the death angel visited our home and took from us our loving husband and father, Billie Singleton. He had been in failing health for some time, which finally confined him to bed with paralysis. All was done that loving hands and Dr. Scarborough could do, but God knew best and took him home to rest. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and eight children. A precious one from us is gone, a voice we loved is stilled, a place is vacant in our home which never can be filled. In the graveyard sweetly sleeping, where the flowers gently wave, lies the one we love so dearly, in a lone and silent grave. Time can not heal our wounded hearts, or fill the vacant chair. We miss your dear loving face, we miss you everywhere. He is sleeping, sweetly sleeping in his new made grave today while we are weeping, sadly weeping for our loved one gone away. Farewell now, but not forever, there will be a glorious dawn, we shall meet to part no never on that resurrection morn. The golden gate were open, a gentle voice said come, and with fairwell unspoken, he calmly entered home. Mr and Mrs. Murry Singleton

    2. Dear Pearl, I have very little info on WILLIAM SINGLETON, b. c1740, other than he was a Colonel in the Continental Army and a Baptist minister. He married PERMELIA PARSONS, b. c1750 in Charleston, SC. These are my 5th great grandparents. I do not know her parent's names but it is possible (but not proven) that she had a brother named SAMUEL and a sister named CATHERINE. I do have additional info on WILLIAM and PERMELIAS descendants and will glady make it available if you want. Someone recently suggested my SINGETONS may be from the Horry Co. bunch so that is where I put out my recent feeler. I hope it pays off. Do you know anything about these two people? Thanks, Don
