    2. Hello List, Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm in search of my G-grandmothers obituary, Eva Ellison (d.April 14, 1961 Myrtle Beach). I've searched the HCHS obit page, and no luck. Does anyone know whom I should contact to uptain a copy? I havn't been researching SC, mainly working on OK. OKHS was able to send me a copy of an obit for a small fee. Does HCHS, or SCHS, have anything similar? Thanks, Amy Owen Omaha, NE

    3. Dear Carol & Julian, In response to your note regarding the Causey family I am a little confused about the relationship of "Emily Beaty Causey" as I have her as the second wife of Asa Garden Causey. As I understand it, she birthed no children for Asa. It seems that you have her listed as the wife of David P. Martin. I know that you both have been doing this a lot longer than I have, so hopefully you can straighten me out on this one. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------DBAE5A9E2B389626A2E7C79E Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi, I am trying to locate the Bowden, Neely, and King families who lived along the SC/NC state line in the area of Robeson County, NC, Columbus County, NC, Marion County, SC, Dillon County, SC, and Horry County, SC. I am forwarding a message I have also sent to the Marion County genealogy list. I hope someone can help me. Thanks. I am trying to locate more information on my father's family from the Carolinas and supposedly of French Huguenot and Irish (maybe Scots-Irish) ancestry. I think the Kings may have been from Marion or Dillon County, SC. My paternal grandparents were Joseph Bowden Neely, Sr. (1888-1928) from Bayboro, Horry County, SC and his wife Nettie King (1896-1958) from somewhere in the Carolinas, probably South Carolina, maybe Marion or Dillon County, SC. My grandmother always insisted that the family was of Irish (the Neelys) and French (the Kings) ancestry. There may have been some Lumbee Indian ancestry, too, but I am not sure. Joseph Bowden Neely, Sr.'s parents were Joseph E. Neely (born 1862 in North Carolina) and Sharlotte (Charlotte) (maiden name unknown--maybe Lee or Bowden?) (born 1853 in South Carolina). Joseph and Sharlotte also had two daughters, Ada and Ruthie. Nettie King's parents were Eddie King (probably from South Carolina) and Marguerite (maiden name unknown--maybe Bowden?)(probably from South Carolina). Eddie and Marguerite had a son named Lonnie King, who, around 1930, lived in Saint Paul's, Robeson County, NC with his wife (I think he was married to Mary Margaret Chappell) and their daughter (I think she was Helen Chappell King who married Jesse Lewis Greene). When Joseph Bowden Neely, Sr. and Nettie King married around 1920, they moved to Savannah, Chatham County, GA where Joseph ran his own business selling Indian motorcycles. He died just before his 40th birthday. Both of them are buried in Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah. Many years after Joseph's death, Nettie remarried Harry Riley. Joseph and Nettie had twin sons who died as infants. Their surviving sons were my father, Joseph Bowden Neely, Jr. (1923-1974) and my uncle, James Robert Neely, Sr. (born 1927). Through the 1950s Nettie kept up with family news by writing to a woman in Maryland. Even when her sons pressed her about their heritage and for stories about the Neelys and Kings, she would not comment on either family. There may have been some family secret. I would appreciate any help in figuring out my Neely and King genealogy and how the Bowden family figures in. I just keep hitting dead ends. I would be grateful for any advice or leads. I want to know the truth, even if it involves a skeleton or two in the closet. Thanks so much. Thanks, Sharlotte Neely Donnelly donnelly@one.net http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/d/o/n/Sharlotte--N-Donnelly --------------DBAE5A9E2B389626A2E7C79E--

    1. [SCHORRY-L] Burial Locations
    2. November 20, 1999 Dear List Members: It has been a long time since I made this query, so here goes again. Seeking documentation regarding the burial locations of Asa Garden Causey, dod February 28, 1900, believed to be in an unmarked grave at Campground Cemetery; his first wife Francis Martin Causey, dod c. 1882, daughter of David P. Martin; and, Emily Beaty Causey, dod March 16, 1923, daughter of Thomas S. Beaty, she had a son named Sam. Emily's death certificate says that she was buried at Campground. Asa and Francis had ten children (listed in order of birth): 1. Henry Dudley 2. William Frances 3. Ozella Lou 4. Sarah Alice 5. Francis Ella 6. Charles Nathan 7. Frederick 8. Asa Ole 9. Samuel R. 10. Clara Lou After Emily and Asa's marriage in 1888 and in their later years, they resided in a smal house just south of Conway's "downtown". Any documentation, obituraries, etc. would be very very gratefully accepted. Thanks-----Carol Causey Harper
