    3. No I don't think so. James M. and Amanda M. are on the 1880 Horry County census. The next time I find them is on the 1910 Wayne County Georgia census, with entries having them both married only once for 42 years. This would mean they were wed in 1868. The "Family Record" entry included as part of her widow's pension application based on James' being on the Indigent roll has them getting married December 22, 1865. Close enough I think given possible errors by the enumerator. 3. Okay, would anyone like to comment my conclusion? (a) The SC Department of Archives and History Alphabetical Index contains the entry, "GRAHAM, E. F., Graham, James M., plat for 45 acres in All Saints Parish, Horry District, surveyed by James Beaty" dated 1855/06/09 and under the same E. F. Graham entry "LONG, Isaac G., plat for 833 acres on Kings Town Lake Swamp, Horry District, surveyed by James A. Thompson" dated 1856/12/18. This means E.F. and James were neighbors and E.F. and Isaac were neighbors so James and Isaac were probably neighbors. (b) The 1850 Federal Census for Horry District lists Isaac G. Long (age 40) with Prudence (age 16), William H. (age 15), Mary (age 12), Adeline? (age 10), John D. (age 8), Reny (age 7), Louisa (age 6), Lorenzo (age 4) and Melvina (age 2). (c) James M. married Amanda M. Long December 22, 1865 after returning from the war. Therefore; given the proximity of the properties, and at least two reoccurrence of names (my Grandfather was Lorenzo D. and he had a brother Isaac M.); I believe that Melvina is my gg-grandmother Amanda M(elvina) Long. 3. Hello, I am new to this list. I am looking for someone with access to the 1850 Horry County census. According to the AIS Census Index, there is a James BUTLER on page 051, no township listed. I am trying to determine if he is the same as below. James Joseph (could be Joseph James) BUTLER b. ca 1820 in SC. Married ca 1844 to Sarah Jane DEHAY b. June 27, 1822. They had the following children: 1. Mary E. BUTLER b. ca 1845 in SC 2. Clementine H. BUTLER b. ca 1848 in SC 3. Martha L. BUTLER b. ca 1850 in SC 4. William B. BUTLER b. ca 1852 in Neshoba Co. MS 5. Harrison Bailey BUTLER b. March 24, 1854 in Neshoba Co. MS 6. James Milton BUTLER b. March 24, 1857 in Neshoba Co. MS 7. Joseph James BUTLER b. ca 1860 in Neshoba Co. MS 8. Thomas Franklin BUTLER b. May 25, 1863 in Neshoba Co. MS I would also like to hear from anyone researching this line. Thanks in advance, Shelly famsearch@home.com

    2. Shelly, Sorry, there were only two Butler households in the 1850 Horry census. One was family #721 John Butler 50 and wife Lydia age 40, and next door family #722, James Butler age 55, and wife Martha age 45. None of the children in either household had the names of children you mentioned, except in James' house there was a Martha J. age 10. Hope this helps. Ed

    2. December 5, 1999 Dear Toptobotttom: Emily's son was named "Samuel" or Sam, not Dam, it was an unfortunate typo. Our best available info has Asa Garden's siblings in order of birth as: William G. married Margaret Fowler; Ezekiel Dix mar. Martha Martin; Martha Jane "Patty" Causey mar. James Perry Jordan; Charlotte(e) Causey mar. Samuel H. Singleton; Temperence unmarried; Sarah Margaret Causey mar. Robert Paul Green; and, Zebedee (Sonny)J mar. Lenora D. Graham. 1. [SCHORRY-L] Tombstone Dedication Ceremony
    2. Saturday, December 4, 1999 Dear Rootsweb Memebers: Since I have not received any responses to the below message re. the tombstone dedication ceremony for Asa Garden Causey, James Perry Jordan, and Zebedee Jordan, I am guessing that you may not realize that you are related to these three gentlemen, so I decided to try again and list the names of Asa's and James Perry's children in the hope that that may help you recognize one or more of your ancestors: 1. ASA GARDEN: and Francis Martin Causey's 10 children (best available evidence): 1/ Henry Dudley "H.D." married Mary Francis Martin 2/ William Francis "Uncle Billy" married Caroline Olympus Brown and then Laura Hardee 3/ Ozella "Zell" or Ella married R. Thomas Jolly 4/ Sarah Alive married George A. Mathew Brown 5/ Francis Ella married William Henry King 6/ Charles nathan married Mary Brock and then Martha Jane "Missy" Hardee 7/ Frederick "Fred" believed to have married Donna Young 8/ Asa Ole married Anne Gertrude Peters then Mary Vera Shaw, and the Roberta Bennett 9/ Samuel "Sam" R. possibly married Dora Jordan 10/ Clara Lou married William Curtis Brock, Jr. Asa's second wife was Emily Beaty and her father was named Thomas S. Beaty. Emily had a son named Dam and her brother's name was William Beaty Asa was the son of Zebedee and Jane Causey and his brothers and sisters were William G.,Ezekiel Dix, Matha Jane "Patty" (wife of James Perry Jordan), Charlott, Ara, Temperance, Sarah Margaret. Zebedee Jr. "Sonny" 2. JAMES PERRY JORDAN: married Martha Jane "Patty" Causey and they had 7 known children as follows: 1/ William Thomas "Tom" married Mary Merle 2/ Zebedee, one of honorees died in Jackson Confederate Hospital, no know kids 3/ Orilla Jordan married Calvin King and then Cornelius Sarvis Beaty 4/ Lafayette "L.F." or "Fate" married Sarah Margaret Brown 5/ Mary Jordan, no records, must have died young 6/ Melvina "Mellie" Jordan married Benjamin Berry Hardee 7/ Perry C. Jordan, no records, must have died young James Perry Jordan's father was belived to be William, brothers William Perry, John, and Hugh Jordan. Not much else is known re. the Jordans except that I have noticed a number of List members are researching that surname. Please let me hear from you if any of these names "ring a bell" and you would like to attend the gravestone ceremony mentioned below for February 26, 2000, however, all interested parties are invited but please contact me ASAP so that I can get a head count. Thanks----Julian Dear Asa Garden Causey and James Perry Jordan Descendents: Please take notice that on Saturday, February 26, 2000, at 11:00 A.M. ( this date is definite but time of day is only probable), we will be holding a three tombstone dedication ceremony at Campground Cemetery in Conway, to honor Asa Garden Causey, James Perry Jordan and his son Zebedee Jordan. It would be wonderful to have as many descendents and related lines turn out as possible. We have obtained three tombstones from the Veterans Administration and they are in Conway awaiting their erection. We have, in addition, obtained two Confederate iron Crosses to mark their graves which will also be erected for the ceremony. Please contact me so that I can get a head count of the expected attendees ASAP and for further details as to the ceremony. All available data points to Asa Garden being buried in Campground along with his second wife, Emily Beaty, her brother, one of his brothers and two sisters etc. and numerous Causey kin. We do not, however, have conclusive evidence as to his burial location and urgently urge anyone that does, to please contact me ASAP. James Perry is buried next to his wife, Asa's sister, Martha Jane "Patty" Causey Jordan. James' and Martha Janes' son, Zebedee Jordan died in Jackson Confederate Hospital in Richmond, VA on July 31, 1864, so his stone will be a "memorial" or cenotaph.
