Can anyone tell me how to contact someone at the Horry County Historical Society who will respond? I joined as a sponsor last year and recently received a notice to pay dues for this year from Ann Long, President. There is no telephone no. on the letterhead, and I could not find an Ann Long or a listing for the organization through directory assistance. There is only a PO Box address on the envelope. At the web page I could not locate an officer with an e-mail link. I wrote to the registrar at registrar@hchsonline.com (link on web page) back in November, and no one ever responded. I am looking for information on how to contact a specific listed member and really do not know who with management to contact. But at the rate I'm going, it doesn't look like I can locate anyone who can be reached either by e-mail or telephone. Does anyone have any suggestions? Jan Neal Alabama

Mac, There are some Jenkins and McQueen connections to the Lewis line in Horry, but none in my line of decent that I know of. What I would like to know is whether Noah McDuffie "Duffie" Lewis is the same person as my great uncle Duffie Lewis, the son of William M. Lewis and Sarah Jane Barnhill. The date of birth fits but I need more than that. An obit would be nice, but the last time I checked the HCHS site, I found none for him. Thanks, Robert E. Lewis
I am looking for an obituary that would have been listed in the paper for Surfside-Myrtle Beach area. It may not even be listed yet. It would be for Bert Allen Jr. He passed away on Thursday. If anyone could forward me the contents I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks very much! CRMN@aol.com C. Hall

Fleety Barnhill is the same Duffie Lewis who was a son of William M. Lewis (31 Jan 1855 - 24 Jun 1924) and Sarah Jane Barnhill (5 Jan 1852 - 13 Jun 1924)? William and Sarah had 8 children as follows: Joe 1874 - 1963 Park 1880 - 1920 Nathan H. 1884 - 1942 (my grandfather) Duffie Jessie 1890 - 1975 Nettie Lillie (married a Hardwick) Lula 1891 - 1918 (married W. I am working on Gt.Gt. Grandparents John Jason "Jackson" Barnhill and wife Emiline "Emily" Goodson moved from Horry Co to Pike Co AL. I work on Barnhill, Singleton, Pledger, Strother, Jernigan, Mitchell, Goddin/Godwin, Jernigan, Fuqua, Adkison/Adkison/Atkinson. Also interested in Quaker Wrightsborough Settlement in Georgia -Moore, Greathouse, Smithson. People should know there is a huge Jernigan Home Page with monthly updates. Many SC connections. The Godwin List has Horry Co connections.I would search that list for connections to Horry. People should know also that a group from Columbia Co NC/Horry Area went to Pike/Barbour counties area in Alabama around 1830. Britton Adkison who married Sarah "Sally" Beasley in Richmond Co NC are my Gt.Gt.Gt.Grandparents.Celia >From: SCHORRY-D-request@rootsweb.com >Reply-To: SCHORRY-L@rootsweb.com >To: SCHORRY-D@rootsweb.com >Subject: SCHORRY-D Digest V00 #3 >Date: Tue, 4 Jan 2000 06:01:21 -0800 (PST) > ><< message2.txt >> ><< message4.txt >> ><< message6.txt >> ><< message8.txt >> ><< message10.txt >> ><< message12.txt >> ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
Same here, Don. Happy researching! Think about it. In the next millenium, someone will be researching US. But...we will have done a little to help them out, right? Thanks for writing.
Hi everybody, I have a death certificate for my gg-grandfather "Dock" J. H. Singleton (b. 09-15-1856 d. 07-01-1926). It states his father is Perry Singleton and his mother is Prudence Johnson. I also have a death certificate for E.R. Singleton (b. 03-16-1846 d. 10-03-1926)(buried near almost beside J.H. Singleton) and it states his father as Perry Singleton and states his mother only as Register. I think Addie Singleton was a sister of J.H. but wonder about E.R. Does anybody know if his mothers maiden name was Register, and if so, her full name? Is E.R. and J.H. brothers? Thanks for any help, Sonja Singleton Phipps
