I apologize if you have received this message more than once but I am sending to all the lists I belong. During the war years, meny men served in reserve units. I have built a site of all sucj ubits I cab find, most with rosters of the men who served. I have built a web site at http://www.geocities.com/screbels_1864/SC_Militia.html with some data about the troops (some more than others) and wish to have more. I have some battle and field assingments. If you have data on any of these units and/or the men (and boys) who served, I would love to hear from you. I would love to know what county each was raised from. They have generally been over looked by researchers but every county contributed to these units. If you send data, let me know whether you wish for me to add your email to the page or not (your choice). Anyway, take a look and honor thier service on this Memorial Day. W A "Bil" Brasington PS. The 1864 units (my special interest) is included on the above link and can also be reached at http://freeweb.pdq.net/Bil_Brasington/SeedCorn.htm To steal from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research. Why couldn't I have had one paper "pack rat" ancestor? ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
Could someone help this gentleman? I'm afraid I can't. The only Singleton I have is one of the brick wall's I have. Thanks, Dianne P.S. If anyone knows anything about my Singleton I would truly appreciate your help. My Singleton is Margaret Singleton, born about 1801, and who married Samuel Moore in Horry County, South Carolina. The information from the 1850 Horry County census is as follows: Samuel Moore, 48, Male, White, Farmer, SC; M.A., 49, Female, White, SC; Bryant, 15, Male, White, SC; Larry, 14, Male, White, SC; (James?) John, 12, Male, White, SC; W., 10, Male, White, SC; Saul A., 8, Male, White, SC; Margaret, 6, Female, White, SC; Henry, 5, Male, White, SC; Daniel E., 1/12, Male, White, SC The 1860 census gives her name but I cannot find any Singleton with a daughter named Margaret in the right time period. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Gary Singleton Date: Wed, 17 May 2000 06:47:26 EDT From: M2dws@aol.com To: ladydee@erols.com Greetings from Alaska! I am in the USAF stationed here in Anchorage and am trying to find a needle in a haystack. I am trying to find the name of the father or mother of Gary Singleton. He is my great grandfather by birth. My mother and father divorced when I was 2 thus the reasoning behind me providing you with such little information. I do know that he lived and died in Conway. His occupation was that of a veterinarian. Also, he married a lady named Mary Dew. His son, my grandfather, was Troy Singleton Sr. I can only assume, judging by Troy Sr.'s birth year, he was born in the late 1800's. I do know that his son, Troy Sr., was born and died in Conway. 1 Gary Singleton +Mary Dew 2 Troy Singleton Sr. b. 11-4-1915 d.5-2-1984 +Susan Allene Lundy b. 3-26-1922 Any info you can provide on Gary Singleton will be sincerely appreciated. NaDean, I don't know what kind of response you had to your e-mail and by now you may have the answers you were looking for. I am related to the Hymans mentioned in your e-mail. Larry Benjamin Hyman was indeed married twice: first to Harriott "Hattie" Ann Jordan, second to Maggie Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jordan. Larry and Hattie had the following children: Mellie Ida Hyman b. 8-19-1877 married Joseph Franklin Jordan F. Adeline Hyman b. 1-1-1879 married William T. I am sure that J. G. Jordan is the son of Nora Hyman Jordan. That would make Katie's husband and mother first cousins. I am a descendant of Larry Hyman's and Nora Hyman Jordan's either niece or half sister, Mary Adria Richardson Williams. Mary was an illigitimate child. Some have said Mary was a child of one of the Hyman girls. Others say that Mary was the daughter of Katherine Richardson Hyman (mother of Larry and Nora). Dan & Julie, The best bet for David Strickland's father is a William Strickland Sr who starts showing up in Bladen County land records in late 1770/1771. His property was located near current day Fair Bluff, NC. It also appears he was the father of: William Strickland, Jr, my line, which has been in Horry County since Nov. 1782. Can anybody tell me anything about a Gary Singleton or Troy Singleton? A friend of mine wants to know if I'm related to them but I'm not familiar with them and I don't have any dates on them. Thanks, Sonja http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/p/h/i/Sonja-R-Phipps/
I was recently told that Isaac George Long's wife was Nancy Hickman. The 1850 Federal Census does not list Nancy and the oldest female in the household, Prudence, was 16. Amanda Melvina, my gg-grandmother, was 2 years old at the time. Last night while searching the LDS web page I came up with information that said Isaac G. Long wed Ingabo B. Oct 19, 1853. And on the 1880 Federal Census Isaac (69) and Ingabo (45) had 6 children, the oldest being 14. Seems reasonable to think that Isaac remarried and after his children from his first marriage had moved on (Amanda married my gg-grandfather December 22, 1865) might have started a second family. Here is what it looks like: 1 Isaac George Long b: 1810 in North Carolina . +Nancy Hickman d: Bef. 1850 ........ 2 Prudence C. Long b: 1834 ........ 2 William H. Long b: 1835 ........ 2 Mary Long b: 1838 ........ 2 Adalin Long b: 1840 ........ 2 John Long b: 1842 ........ 2 Reny Long b: 1843 ........ 2 Louisa Long b: 1844 ........ 2 Lorenzo Long b: 1846 ........ 2 Amanda Melvina Long b: July 14, 1848 in Horry County, South Carolina d: 1914 in Florida ............ +James M. Graham b: September 29, 1837 in Horry County, South Carolina d: Bef. 1912 in Georgia *2nd Wife of Isaac George Long: . +Ingabo B. ........ 2 Benjamin Long b: 1866 ........ 2 Robert Long b: 1868 ........ 2 Lizzie Long b: 1869 ........ 2 Cora Long b: 1871 ........ 2 Solon Long b: 1875 ........ 2 James Long b: 1880 Any thoughts or comments from anyone looking at this family? I don't have much more that this since I'm trying to stay focused on my primary line, the Grahams. Difficult as us Grahams can be! :-) Sincerely Dow L. Graham

If you are referring to the "History of Williamsburg," yes, there is a Robert Booth in the 1790 census of Williamsburg County. He is listed as over 16, along with (4) females and (1) slave. It is the only mention of any BOOTH in the book.

Checked my History of Williamsburg, by William Willis Boddie, 1992 edition, and found only a single male, William Cox, in Williamsburg Co., in 1790 census. There is a C. W. Cockfield, and a J. C. Cockfield mentioned in the book, but no Cleland. The Cockfield properties are shown in the northern section of the county, toward Marion County and Darlington County. The other Cox's mentioned are in lists of Civil War military units, during the 1860's.
Robert Roach, I'm sorry, but I have nothing on Needham as a surname. I know that there were many men with Needham as a first or second name. Perhaps it came from similar circumstances to those named Lorenzo Dow xxx. Lorenzo Dow was an itinerant preacher who evidently made quite an impression as babies all up and down the eastern coast were named Lorenzo Dow xxx. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else knows the facts about it.
