Born 25 January 1865 in St Louis, Missouri (or so it has always been believed by the family - there is no known record). Following the deaths of their parents, Mary and Eliza Jane were sent back - ship's name, dates/ports of embarkation and disembarkation not known - to their maternal grandmother in Cheshire, England. Eliza Jane married Charles Frank HAYWARD on 21 Jan 1896 at St Jude, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England. They became - eventually - my maternal grandparents. Eliza Jane died 21 November 1945 in Bristol, England. Maggie SCHOFIELD. Born about November 1865 in (I assume) St Louis, Missouri. Age at death given as 9 months. Died 20 August 1866 of "summer complaint". Buried 21 August 1866 Bellefontaine Cemetry, St Louis, Missouri, in her mother's grave. I should be grateful for any advice on how to track down details of the west-bound voyages of John Snr and Jane with any indications of their origins, and east-bound of Mary and Eliza Jane.
