Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Also I am looking for one of their sons "James", who would be my great grandparent. My information gives me a death date for James of September 1858, in Nashville, Tenn., but my search gives me nothing. Are you part of this family? If so maybe I can help on some names, I now have over 300 names Thanks for answer. Don Schofield

Hi, I only just saw your reply posted way back when..... I am currently on the trail of John and Elizabeth (nee Hall) Schofield. Their son was Samuel b 5/2/1824 in Manchester, Lancashire England. Samuel emigrated 1853 on the David McIver to Australia, occupation listed as Labourer. He came to work on the Sydney Railway and ended up as the Superindent of Labourers.. He married Julia Bourke of Tipperary Ireland on 23/7/1856 and they had 10 children that I can find. I have absolutely no information on John and Elizabeth but heaps on the descendents....

Hi, Cheryl. Do you have any more information on James Rowbotham, both father and son? Was the son James M. ? Was he born in England or the US? If in the US, was it by any chance in Illinois in 1857? If so, these could be my paternal GGrandfather and GGGrandfather. Any information would be greatly appreciated as my search on my Grandfather James M. Rowbotham stops with him and I have hit a roadblock on any additional information. He married Alnetta Lavina Hattabaugh 21 Jun 1881 in Carroll County, Missouri. Hope to hear from you soon. I recently purchased a wonderful old "Cabinet Portrait" studio photograph of Jennie Hopran Schofield, at an antique shop in St. Charles, IL. I enjoy buying lovely old pictures like these in antique shops and locating descendants or family members so that I can re-unite the pictures, for only my costs, with people who will treasure them. The picture was taken by the "Dresser" Studio, in Winfield, Kansas, in approx.1890 (my estimate only). Winfield is in Cowley Co. She looks to be approx.20 yrs.old - give or take a year or two, and is a very beautiful young woman, with medium dark hair. The picture is 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" mounted on heavy cardboard, as was typical of those years. The picture is an original (not a copy), and is in overall excellent condition (however someone along the way bent it, but it does not show at all unless you tip it sideways to catch the light). If you have Schofield family in the area of Cowley Co., Kansas in this time period, please Email me directly at [email protected] and I wiill get back to you soon.
I am new to the list and want to share who I am researching. Oscar Reuben Scofield- b.5-13-1863 married Matilda Knight Rabedeau Daniel Thomas Scofield b. 11-12-1819 married Cynthia Ann Zeluff Reuben Scofield b. 1788 married Ruth Ann Kelly I am now concentrating on Oscar Reuben and Matilda. I don't know where Oscar was buried. The info I have was that he last lived in Wadena, Sask. Canada.I was told by a family member that Matilda left Oscar and went back to Minnesota, but I can't find her either. Also, cannot connect her with the Rabedeau name. Her maiden name was Knight, but she was listed as Matilda Rabedeau in her sons obituary . I would be greatful for any help anyone could give me. I do have all the children names for Oscar and Matilda, if anyone would like them. And I also have books on the History of Margo and Kurioki Sask. Canada if anyone would like me to do a lookup for them. Thank you, Mrs. Annette SWan
No time to check out above at present but in the meantime would like to point you to my Schofield Ancestors web page. http://hometown.aol.com/gmusgr54/myhomepageheritageschofield.html [email protected]
I, too am searching Mirfield Schofields. I have the parish church printout for christenings 1775 to 1846. There is a William Scholefield listed chr Dec 19, 1830 parents Jonathan and Ann Scholefield. I have found that my Benjamin Schofield's father Joseph spelled his name Scholefield also. My family moved to Honley Yorkshire in the 1830's (aprox). There is a Susanna listed chr. May 15, 1836 with the same parents. (Jonathan and Ann) There are two children listed later with Jonathan and Nancy as the parents. I don't know if it's the same Jonathan or not, but they are Emma and John, both chr. July 12, 1840. I don't see a birth for Jonathan listed. I'll be ordering more Mirfield records on microfilm to look at from the local FHC. I'm planning on getting parish records to look at, not jus the printout, so I will keep you in mind as I look. If you see any references to Benjamin b. 1827 (father Joseph) married Eliza Sykes, please pass it on. Thanks.
Connie, thank you so much for writing me back and as soon as I can come up with the first name I will be happy to write you back. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and kindness! - Lynn
Connie, thank you so much for taking the time to email me back in regard to my inquiry. I can totally appreciate your time in life. I finally got really into the family tree after my two girls began school full time and I have been hooked ever since. I appreciate your suggestions and information and I realize I have a needle in a haystack with Mabel Wise Schofield. I believe she is a cousin to the Yost family of Pontiac Ill that discovered the connection to a huge mystery in our family and that was 60 plus years ago and I am searching for anyone who could have been related to Mabel and only know her married name was Schofield and do not even know her husbands name and it really makes it a bit harder to research her down. Thanks again and good luck with finding time to begin your search! - Lynn
