    1. [SCHOFIELD] Roll Call: Grundy County, Illinois Schofields
    2. Rodney Gould
    3. Hi All, I have Schofield ancestors that I'm doing research on that have come from England, and have found that they were of those families from Mossley, Yorkshire (or in the Manchester area). The ones related to my family all seem to have been in Gardner, Grundy County, IL, in 1878-79, but it appears that one branch moved to the Lisbon/Plattville area in Kendall County. Most all are buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Morris, IL, even the ones from Plattville, who were removed to there from Lisbon in Kendall County. The line I'm researching descends from Joseph Schofield (a civil war veteran), born-4/18/1834, died-9/18/1928. Joseph married Elizabeth Shaw in Kempton, Ford Co., IL on 12/31/1870. They had three children, Emma Dee, Willis E., and Herbert Shaw Schofield. Willis married my great-aunt, Anna Isabell Gould, daughter of Thomas Gould and Barbara Wills-Gould. Some others that I'm trying to figure how they fit into that particular family are, Benjamin, Robert Leach, William and Henry Schofield. I've found that Joseph and William were brothers. William immigrated to the U.S. in 1862 and Joseph may have come with him. Joseph joined the Union Army and served in 36th Illinois Volunteers, Company "C", before being wounded at the Battle of Nashville in 1864. I'm hoping to find Joseph and William's family in England. I also have a few obituaries, several cemetery cards, censuses and marriage licenses for anyone that's looking for this branch of that family. Rodney Gould

    3. Hello Max, Saw your note on Schofield @rootsweb.com and was interested that your line comes from England. My line does as well with the arrival of Arthur Scovell to New England in 1660 from the Tarant Valley in South West England. Is this your line as well ? My information comes from published sources: "Arthur Scovell and his descendants in America, 1660-1900" Holly and Brainard, 1941. The name is well documented to be also Schofield and as you mentioned no "f" and many other spellings. My interest is primary the line after they arrived in Nova Scotia in 1760 from CT. Would be interested in hearing from you. 2. Ron, Saw your note on the SCHOFIELD list. I'm also seeking information about Schofields in Nova Scotia. My father was born in Hantsport, Kings County, NS in 1904, and came to the US 15 years later. I've got a lot of information purportedly about the family, but some of the connections seem tenuous if not implausible because of dates, etc. I'd be happy to tell you what I know. Regards, Paul Schofield Hingham, Mass. USA

Marie-Louise Gauthier in Montreal ( had 5-6 children including my grandmother Maggie Schofield m. Tetrault) He died in 1923 and is buried in Montreal, Qc, Cdn. Only info I have on him is that he sunk his or a ship in les Iles de la Madelaine probably late 1890's and was very tall and red hair/bearded. He was also involved with setting the navigational routes in the Gulf of St. Lawrence still used today. I was told that 'our' Schofield was Anglo-german in descendance by my grandmother.
