I live in a house he bought in 1920 and lived in until the mid-1930s at least. It seems he was a distinguished chap and I was pleased to see a photo of him on-line, in the Cardiff sea Cadets history. He lived in Cathedral Road, Cardiff, until moving to 'Marconi', Pencisely Road, Llandaff. (The current adddress is 108 Pencisely Road.) I was aware it was called 'Marconi' and quite by chance found out why; Commander Schofield was Principal of the Wireless College here. Should any family photos of he and his wife at the house exist, I would be delighted to see them. With all good wishes, Matthew Williams, Present owner of 'Marconi' 108 Pencisely Road, Llandaff, Cardiff CF5 1DQ Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The project will initially focus on the earliest Saddleworth surnames which are known locally from the 1642 Protestation return or earlier documents. These are still common not only in Saddleworth but in the adjacent areas of the South Pennines. Many have well researched family trees. We are therefore keen to include other Societies and researchers. The project's database is located at http://www.familytreedna.com/ in the Geographical projects section as Saddleworth, UK http://www.familytreedna.com/public/saddleworthsurnames Please add DNA profiles of these Saddleworth / South Pennine names to the database. Parishes are of varying sizes & some surnames, like Taylor, are very common & will predominate in most areas. The ratio shows how common a name is in an area compared to how common it is nationally. Note eg that Wood is a common name, (although mainly in the North) and is common in Saddleworth. But it is disproportionately common in Saddleworth which has the highest relative concentration in the country. 1 Archer Surname Atlas www.archersoftware.co.uk Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
