My Schnell's immigrated from the Duchy of Nassau, Germany on 4 Jan 1851 via New York City. They were Gottfried F (Charles) Schnell b: 9/23/1816 d: 1/4/1902 in Warwick Co, Elberfeld, IN. He was married in Germany circa 1840-1845 to Catherine (Katherine) Herr b: Duchy of Nassua, Germany on 12/17/1821. Died 3/20/1895 Warrick Co, Elberfeld, IN. (My Great-great-grandparents) Their son Charles L. Schnell b:in PA in 1852 d:5 July 1930 in Evansville, IN buried in Elberfeld, IN. On 30 Nov 1875 he married Mena (Minnie) Silke. Minnie was b: 4/15/1853 & died 8/23/1896 both in Elberfeld, IN. (My great grandparents). Their child, Edna Minnie Schnell , is my paternal grand mother. My grandmother Lillian Schnell Koelmel is Eileens' sister. We knew them very well, Wrex was so much fun, always playing with us kids. He taught me how to play marbles and from him I could win anyone. We have photos of both Wrex and Eileen and would be happy to send them to you. We knew very little about Wrex and his family before Aunt Eileen, and even during their life together in Minnesota. Since you are looking for more activity I will ask again as there might be someone new looking. I am looking for more Schnells related to Apollonia (nee Schnell). She married Theodore Günther (aka Guenther) in St. Louis in 1854. These Günthers came with the Saxon Immigration to Perry County, Missouri initially in 1839. This is the group that formed The Lutheran ChurchMissouri Synod. There are other Schnells buried at Western Evangelical Cemetery (German) and also at Bethlehem Cemetery off Bellefontaine Rd., both in the St. Louis, Missouri area. I connected Apollonia with her family on a ship's list. I have a copy of the ship record from the Port of Rotterdam on the ship named "The Superb of Baltimore." Listed are the father: Peter, a farmer age 50; Anna Maria, mother age 41; son, Peter age 16, daughter, Apollonia age 9½ yrs.; son, Johann 4½yrs. It says they came from Hessia (part of Germany). I believe the mothers maiden name to be Gaubatz. Apollonia was born 17 March 1835 and died 2 Dec 1896. I have more information on Theodore Günthers family also. Schnell, b 27 Jun 1892 Greenfield Twp., Wayne Co., MI; d 17 Jul 1974 Maple Grove Twp., Saginaw Co., MI married Celia Schuster 5 Sep 1916 St. Michael Catholic Church, Maple Grove Twp., Saginaw Co., MI Howard had a milk route in the Detroit area and that is how he met Celia. He was possibly connected to a Brown family. His parents may be John L and Mary Schnell. If anyone has ANY info that might possibly connect to this family, I would be interested. These are my maternal g-g-grandparents Silke & Grandman immigrated from Pruessen, Germany in approximately 1850 (don't have the exact date, ship, or port of entry). They were married in Germany on 1 Jan 1847. Heinrich (Henry) Silke was b:7/14/1823 in Germany & died 6/15/1903 in Indiana. Marie Luise Fridrike Charlotte Grandmann was b: 1823 in Germany. She died in Indiana on 12/25/1899. I have the names of both Heinrich & Charlotte's parents but not much more than their names. Gottfried F "Charles" Schnell married Catherine Herr in Germany (Duchy of Nassua area) in the 1840-1845 time period. They had 2 children Friederick b:1848 & August b: 1850 in Germany before immigrating the US on 4 Jan 1851 via NYC. In route to Indiana in the early 1850's they had a child Charles L. Schnell born in Philadelphia, PA in March 1852. I do not have any info on either Gottfried or Catherine parents. I would like to have Gottfried & Catherine's marriage date as well. I would love share any info that that would mutually benefit us. Right now I am focusing more on the HERR - SCHNELL families right now, but it is slow going.
