I checked my records and I have listed that Emile Catharina Schnoor was born in Kuden, Dithmarschen, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Her other sibling have a birthplace listed as Hamburg or just Schleswig-Holstein. Their parents are just listed as being born in Germany. I noticed that I have several Ancesty hints for the family members, so maybe that will give me more information about birthplaces. I do know that the parents brought the children to America from the port of Hamburg to the port of New Orleans, LA and then they traveled up the Mississippi to Iowa and settled in Jackson County. Heinrich "Henry" Schnoor is buried in the Reeseville Cemetery there as well as his daughter Antje Magdelena and grandaughter Catherina. His wife lived with thier daughter Emile Catharina for a time, then came to live in Boone County with one of her sons. Catharina "Trinke" Johannsen Schnoor is buried in the Woodward Cemetery in Woodward, Dallas! County IA along with her sons Hans and Claus and their families. I was aware that Claus Schnoor had also come to Iowa, but it is easier to do research on those that are closer to where I live. Claus' family settled about half a state away from where I live, which is about a 4 hour drive. Christina Seemann is the half sister of Hans Heinrich "Henry" Seemann/Seeman. She and her brothers Johann and Juergen are from their father's third marriage to Dorothea Jurgensen. Henry and his sister Catharina are from their father's second marriage to Catharina Maria Eriksen. They both emmigrated to the U.S. and Catharina married Henry Schnoor and Catharina Johannsen's son Johann, a sibling to Emile Catharina and Antje Magdalena. I was not aware that Johann and Juergen Seemann had emigrated. There was a son from Hans Caspar's first marriage to Catharina Maria Mueller, Peter, who I believe remained in Germany as he would have inherited the farm, being the firstborn son. He had two sons who came to the Woodward area, Hans P. and Henry J., but their descendants don't mix with the descendants of Henry Seeman. Hans Caspar died at age 62, leaving 10 children by 3 wives. I just uploaded a story about his death to his page in my tree. I was still wondering if my Struves are related to you. I just found a hint for a family tree and found that Ernest Heinrich's grandfather was Friedrich Gotthold Struve born 24 Jan 1742 in Kiel, Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. His wife was Christina Charlotte vonSchele. Theier son, Caspar Paul Friedrich Ernest Struve was born 14 Mar 1791 in Oldenburg, Holstein, Germany and arrived at the port of Galvaston, Texas in 1850. He was the father of Ernest Heinrich Struve who married Emile Catharina Schnoor. Thank you for your help and for the website you put up. It looks like it might be helpful to me on the other families I am reseaching as well. I know of at least one family who came to America to avoid their son being drafted into the war. I don't think they exactly had permission to leave Germany, so maybe I will find them on your site if I can think of the right surname to look for.
