    1. [SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN-ROOTS] Old German Rhymes
    2. My Grandfather, who was born in Pluncau, SH, used to cross his legs, put me on the crossed leg and bounce me as he sang what sounded liked “Suc, Suc, Suc a murley” and then something like the “bunty cow”. There was more to it but that’s all I can remember. Has anyone heard of this??? and what was the English translation? --

    2. I would love to have some help on this one also as My father would also sing something like that while bouncing a child on a crossed leg. I have tried it but it just kills my leg. As I remember the song it went something like yours; Suc Suc Suc merle Childs name luthen ferle ir nick (something) mit se. I was told that the Suc Suc were just sounds you made with children. The merle (OR a Murley) I am not sure of, the luthen ferle (Plattdeutsch for little colt I was told) and that you couldn't go with me. I have no idea how close I am to the way my dad really sang this little ditty but I sure wish that I had asked more about it before he passed away. If anyone can help it woiuld be great. My family came from the Giekau Church District near Luthenburg if that makes any difference in the Plattdeutsch used. Thanks for bringing this up and I sure hope someone can help.
