    1. [SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN-ROOTS] Kluever family / Confused about Schleswig-Holstein
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: BPetura Surnames: Kluever, Kluewer, Klever Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.germany.schleswig.general/6407.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello Jenn, You are seeking your family that came from Schleswig-Holstein in 1872 -- their surname with spelling variations including Klever or Kluever or Cluever or Clever. An extraordinary resource for finding ancestors who left Schleswig-Holstein for America [and elsewhere] is the fine website maintained by Klaus Struve called Rootdigger. Here is the link to the webpage where you can click on the letter K to see all the people with K surnames who emigrated. VISIT: http://rootdigger.de/Emi.htm There are 66 Kluever entries, 4 Kluewer entries and 2 Klever entries. You might find your ancestor among them. There are NO entries for Clever or Cluever, making it pretty clear that those spellings developed in America and won't be found in Schleswig-Holstein. Sometimes, Klaus Struve knows more about an entry and will share a bit more detail. He also does excellent genealogy research and has helped me a great deal with my ancestors from Schleswig-Holstein. Hope this helps! Barbara Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
