    3. Hello Kay Marie: I am sorry but other than BECKMAN, your surnames do not ring any bells with me, nor do the localities. Have you tried looking at the US 1880 census for them if in the US at that time? If they weren't in the US at that time and immigrated as children perhaps the GERMANS TO AMERICA What do their obits tell you? Perhaps, these would be helpful to explain the relationship of sisterhood. I have jottings from a family bible and it states: Eliese Schmidt, nee Beckman had a sister, Emma who married a Claus Hardekopf. There is something wrong with this information I have, and I just can't put my finger on it. I find a Elsie Schmidt who died in Otter Tail in 1922. I find a Kath Eliese Freudenberg, mother's name Beckman, born 1886 out of state and dying in 1976 in Otter Tail Co. MN. I am trying to get a handle on these Beckman girls, Emma, who married a Hardekopf and Eliese. The thing of it is I don't know why the person wrote Eliese Schmidt, nee Beckman & John Hardekopf's mother, Emma Hardekopf nee Beckman were sisters. Supposedly, Emma (11/30/1874-9/13/1950) married a Claus Hardekopf and had the following Children: John, 1898 Alma Betty Herbert. I can't seem to get a handle on this family at all, maybe you can enlighten me? Any help would be appreciated! Kay Marie

    1. Re: [SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN-ROOTS] Beckmann
    2. Hello Genie, Thank you for your reply. The only connection I can see is a Beckmann name on two sides of the Elbe River NW of Hamburg, Germany in those specific towns - Bruensbuttel and Oederquart, which looking at the map are joined by a main road and the waterway. Good searching on your lines.
