    3. Hi everyone, I'm researhing my GGG Grandfather. At the time of his birth, his father's occupation was give as 'Voigt'. Explanations:The 'Voigt' or 'Vogt' was the representative of the ruler in a village. He had administrative, tax and supervision duties. "Being a 'Vogt' in a normal village was a respected position and duty, but not a full time job. Almost all 'Vögte' (plural of 'Vogt') did some farming in order to earn a living for their families." Is there somewhere I could find records relating to the Father's position. Or Census records? I'm am puzzled that the Researcher I hired, could not find siblings born either side of 1837 in Ruhleben. Or the parents marriage. One would think, that to be in such a position, his Father would have lived in the Village for many years. Kind regards, Sherrie.
