Teva....the advice you have received so far is good......I have traced my moher's ancestors ()Schoolmann....Wagner...& many others) to1575 in SH. Church records are the best....then the Dancensuses.........censuses and some chuch records are available thru LDS.....you'd get more help if you gave specifric names and dates and probable date of entry into US.
