BELOVED MOTHER CALLED HOME Passing of Mrs. Rathje Casts Gloom Over Neighborhood REMAINS TAKEN TO WYOMING, IA. FOR INTERMENT The community has been called upon to part with another of its most highly esteemed citizens last week when the death summons called Mrs. Jerry Rathje from the scenes of her labors to the land beyond life's toil and care. Her sickness while of brief duration was accompanied by intense suffering and the heart broken husband and children are postrated with grief in their great loss. Mrs. Rathje had surrounded herself with a large circle of friends, her home was her kingdom and the atmosphere of hospitality and true friendliness was always apparent, winning for her and her loved ones a host of kind neighbors. Henrietta Martensen was born in Germany, September 30, 1874 and came to this country with her parents in 1889. She was united in maarriage to Jerry Rathje June 12, 1895 and in 1910 they became residents of this community locating on a farm in Floyd county, about 4 miles west of Nashua. Four children two sons and two daughters came to bless this union, who with the bereaved husband are heart broken in their burden of sorrow. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon from the late home and was attended by a large concourse of sympathetic friends. Many floral offerings found their way to the side of the casket, the graduationg class of which Miss Anna is a member attending in a body with several of the teachers and presenting beautiful floral tributes. Besides the immediate family ther remain four brothers and two sisters. Rev. Pease officiated at the funeral and the remains were brought to the undertaking room where they rested until the following morning when the funeral party left for Wyoming, Ia., for the interment a German Lutheran burial service being held at that place. The family was accompanied by Cornelius and Thomas Martensen, brothers of the deceased and Miss Mae Geishert went with the party as far as Waterloo. The hearfelt sympathy of the entire community goes out to the sorrowing family in their hour of bereavement.
