I have just found out that my Scheel family is from the town of Satjendorf in Holstein. The Scheel family I am referring to settled in Plattesville, Grant County, Wisconsin in the mid to late 1860's. Specifically: Siblings Claus Heinrich SCHEEL b Nov 1843 Carl (Charles) SCHEEL, b. Feb 1845 Catherine SCHEEL, b. Abt 1849 came to the US on April 5, 1864 on the ship Teutonia out of Marseilles. (Have passenger list from NARA). The rest of the family arrived in New York later, on December 6, 1866, out of the port of Marseilles, ship unknown. Father Claus SCHEEL b. 1814 Mother Margaret (Unknown)SCHEEL, b. Abt 1816 Doris SCHEEL b. Abt 1851 Friedrich SCHEEL b. Nov 1858 Hans SCHEEL b.Nov 1848 Marie SCHEEL b. Abt 1847 . I have the info on this from "Germans to America", but NARA stated that they could not find the manifest. I am certain that Claus and Margaret are the parents of Claus, Carl, Hans, and Friedrich. I am awaiting documentation on the others mentioned above. Does anyone have any info on the Scheels from Satjendorf? Carl SCHEEL - in my direct line - married ( in Plattesville, Wisconsin) a Catherine SCHROEDER b.29 May 1847, Kiel, Holstein, d. 4 Feb, Russell Twp., Lamoure, ND. I have not been able to determine who her parents are as yet. Christina Scheel
