I have a copy of Natrualisation in New Zealand, he stated that his past Nationality was Danish. There has been some talk in the family that the surname spelling was changed from OHLSEN to OHLSON, which it is currently today.The family rumour it was done, perhaps so he would not get mistaken as german, who knows ??.It was Ohlson on the Natrualisation docs.Frederick was a Shipmaster, and possibly in the Danish Navy,although I have yet to varify this.It is also possible that his fathers name was Marcus,this has also yet to be varified.He died in NZ 1894.
