Hi List, There is much interest in the availability of census records, but it is obvious that there are few transcribers and many census records to be done. How does one overcome this, perhaps members of this list could express their desire that certain areas be done with the encouragement that they will be a part of the effort. This may mean contacting other researchers who need the same census record transcribed and realise that there are available records for that place for a number of years eg 1803, 1835, 1840, 1845 & 1855. Offering to assist in the collecting of the records by hiring LDS films and paying for the hire, photocopying and postage, even where this is not directly available offering to finance someone who can do the hard work but does not have the financial means to do so. Advertising in your local area for someone who is able to read the old German script. this person obviously would need to be paid a fee for his or her work. I have been successful in hiring the film, paying for the photocopies, finding a lovely person in my neighbourhood who is able to transcribe the records and appreciates the money I pay him to do the work which supplements his pension and gives him a extra feeling of worth. Not being able to speak the German language has not been a obstacle to me. There are professional organisations and researchers that appear on this list who I am sure would offer suggestions, welcome assistance and encourage the means of when the transcription is finished a greater coverage to other researchers. I must make aware to readers that all this takes time and for them who do this to have patience. my friendly greetings Wayne Bunning researching the Neukirchen, Segeberg and Gleschendorf areas
