My ggrandfather was George Andersen, b. 31 Dec. 1852 in S-H. (He could also be Georg or Jorgen Andresen) He emigrated to the USA in 1879 to escape Prussian conscription. He was naturalized, and he farmed in the Town of Eaton, near Green Bay, Wisconsin. Both his gravestone and that of his wife are inscribed in Danish. My ggrandmother was Sophie Christensen, b. 28 Feb. 1860. According to her death certificate, she was the daughter of John Christensen and Margeret Hansen. Unfortunately, their place of residence was merely listed as <<Europe>> on the certificate. Sophie emigrated in 1882. George and Sophie may have married in 1882 in the USA because the census showed they had been married 18 years in 1900 and had had six children born and six children living. I have information on their children's children to varying degrees. Their children were Carl b Aug 1885, Olaf b Dec 1887, Margartha b Sept 1890, Hansthe (or Hans) b Oct 1892, Simon b Apr 1896, and Sophus dates unknown. I would like to know whether I can trace their families back any farther than I now know. Unfortunately, I do not at present have any information on their places of birth. I realize theirs were probably common names, but this limb of my family tree is, alas, the barest. I believe George was a sailor. My father said that George would twist baling twine into rope when he wasn't otherwise occupied. And does the name Fredriksburg mean anything? Thanks for this roll call! I look forward to learning a lot! Carol
