My grandfather, Hans Jacob SCHWARDT (1873-1956), was born in Buettel. I have been able to trace some of his family back to 1674. They are listed in the church records (St Margarethen) variously as SCHWARDT, SCHWART, SCHWARTEN, SCHWARTE and came mainly from the Flethsee/Landscheide area in Steinburg. I have as yet little information about the women who married into the family (see their family names above). Does anyone have any information on these families? At the moment I am particularly interested in tracing my grandfather's siblings: NICOLAUS SCHWARDT (born 1875) MARGARETHE SCHWARDT (born 1877) MARTA SCHWARDT (born 1880) SOPHIE SCHWARDT (born 1881 HERMANN SCHWARDT HERMINE SCHWARDT Did any of these siblings emigrate to America?
