Since the last post to this list, we are slowly hurdling that brick wall! In looking for our Neuhaus, have now also found Ohland. Marie Neuhaus (nee Ohland) was born 21 July 1835 in Stelle S/H which is just 15 miles south of Hamburg. She was married to Christ Neuhaus and there is a small village 30 miles SE of Hamburg. The family always said that Christ was from the village of Neuhaus but since there is more than one village by that name, did not know which one to search. So now we are sure that we have found the birth place for both great grandparents. And living so close to Hamburg, we will begin to look for them departing from Hamburg. They would have been married before leaving S/H since some of the children were born there before emigrating to the US about 1867. They were: Christian born about 1858 Johann born about 1859 William born about 1861 Hildebart born about 1866 Anyone else have ancestors born in that area? We might have found some others and will post them when we have more information. Names might be WILHELM FICK born about 1837 and MARIA TIMMERMAN. She was born Dec. 29, 1848 in Braumstadt/Bramstadt if that is in S/H. If Prussia was part of S/H then we also have Gutjhar and Normann. Elaine Larson Neuhaus
