Thomas Christian Iwers immigrated to US in 1888 with wife Maria Helena AUMUSSEN from S-W. They had a child, Christina, age 1, at the time. This family came with Catharina Helena GEFKE AUSMUSSEN, Maria's mother, to meet with her husband, Thomas AUSMUSSEN in Hawarden, Sioux County, Iowa. He had come to the area in 1887. Catharina's son, either by a previous marriage or born out of wedlock, Andreas Frederick GEFKE, who had come to the United States about 1885, first to Tama, IA, then to Hawarden.
