Hi Iris, I don't have information as yet on your ancester, but Lolland is an area in Maribo and not an island. Maribo is an island county in south eastern Denmark. Hi June, thats not correct what you wrote: Lolland is indeed an danish island in the baltic sea just north of the Schleswig-Holstein island of Fehmarn. You have to cross Lolland when you drive on the Motorway from Hamburg and Luebeck north to the danish capital Copenhagen - and Maribo is a town on this road to Copenhagen. Denmark is divided into 13 districts/counties ( called Amt ) and and 271 municipalities (kommuner). Lolland in southeast Denmark, forms with the islands of Zealand, M�n, Falster and some minor islands the storstroems amt. Maribo is a municipality in south Denmark, in the county of Storstr�m. The municipality covers an area of 154 km�, and has a total population of 11,135. Danish volunteers (and the Schleswig-Holsteiners of e.g. the AGGSH www.aggsh.de ) are still progress in typing the danish censuses 1769, 1801 /1803*, 1835*, 1840, 1845*, 1850, 1855*, 1860* and 1864* village by village and Name by name into a database which is online available at http://ddd.dda.dk/ . The * indicates that there are some of the Schleswig-Holstein censuses available too, but at the moment we have far less entries in the database than our danish friends. We are glad to find more helping hands.
