Hello to anyone researching the Tolk Family. I am a descendant of a Tolk Family in S-H Germany, and following is all that I know about my Tolk Ancestors. (As well as my Hass Ancestors) This is information contained in the Marriage Register from The Parish of Kropp. (Lutheran Church) Marx Hass born February 18 or 19, 1836 and baptised February 28, 1836. His Godfathers: Marx Hass, (from) Holzbunge Johann Ewald, (from) Owschlag His Godmother: Trine Wulff, (from) Holzbunge His parents were Claus Hass (small farmer) and Tepke Margaretha (maiden name Ewald). Marx was a carpenter from Steensieck. Marx Hass and Christina Margaretha Tolk were married on January 8, 1869. She was from Booklund. She was born January 8, 1849 and baptised January 24, 1849. Her Godfather: Gerth Greve, (from) (K?)Cropp-Kathenausbau Her Godmothers: Catharina Margaretha Tolk, (from) (K?)Cropp Margaretha Greve, (from) (K?)Cropp-Kathenausbau Her parents were Peter Tolk (1/4 hide farmer) and Anna Maria (maiden name Uetermann). Marx and Christina came to the United States and settled first in Clinton Iowa, and then in Crawford County Iowa. They are buried in the Manning, Carroll county, Iowa, Cemetery. It is possible that he had a brother John (Johannes?) who also came to America. Don't really know for sure. Any information on any of these families is appreciated. Portia (Hass) Haynes
