    3. I am trying to find the birthplace of my grandfather, Peter PETERSEN, who emigrated to New Zealand, probably about 1880. His parents were Carl Hansen Petersen and Ingeborg ANDRESEN. Carl and Ingeborg appeared on the Carlum Census for 1860, Carl being a carpenter. Peter was stated as having been born in Carlum, aged 4. He was born 6 September 1856. On his naturalisation papers in New Zealand Peter said he was born in Flensborg, and with his will was an affidavit signed by his two eldest sons stating that he was born in Maribo on the Island of Lolland. When I discovered that, there was no one alive from the family to answer my questions. Peter married Anna Catherina NIELSEN in Greytown, New Zealand, 11 March 1882. She also came from SCH-HOL but I do not know whether they knew each other when in Denmark. On the birth certificate of one of their sons they both said they were born in Carlum.
