If your email address has changed since you signed on to the list you need to include that address in the message section with your unsubscribe message. I ran into that problem when my service provider changed from attbi to comcast. I kept sending the unsubscribe message from my comcast address and it kept coming back saying I could not unsubscribe. When I included the old address (it took me awhile to figure it out - slow learner) I immediately got a reply that I was unsubcribed.
