I'm looking for information on the special imperial cavalry contingent from Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf sent to help the during the War of Spanish Succession. They fought in today's southern Germany and also in Alsace-Lorraine. My ancestor was the cavalry captain Georg Andreas HARTWIG, born about 1666, died 1736 in Birkenau, Kreis Heppenheim, Hessen. We believe he was not from S-H (he was a lieutenant in Wolfenbüttel in 1701, but we don't have any further information about origins). He had a number of children during his time in the military (1703-1712), but I don't know where to find any of their birth records. Ideas?
