I've been reading S-H-Roots postings for some time now searching for anything suggesting a connection to my paternal ggfather, Albert Preuss, from Barend, near Schleswig, S-H. So far, no luck. But I did have to comment on the Maryann on Amrum whose maiden name was Block. . .my maternal gfather was Henry Block and this is the first time I've seen this name listed as well. He was said to have immigrated from Bremen, married Hulda Petzold, and lived out his days in Kansas City, MO. Maybe this will trigger something. Don Preuss in Oklahoma.

Don, was your Henry Block related to the Block family who founded Block, Miami Co., KS? A Peter Preuss (1623-1686), born and died in Tønder, married an 8-great aunt of my wife, Loretta/Laureta de Bähr/Behr (~1620-1697), also of Tønder. Notes on Peter: Er war Landschreiber beider Marschen, wurde nach dem Tode seines Bruder Johann Preuss dessen Nachfolger als Bürgermeister in Tondern. Er war ein Sohn des Amtsschreibers in Tondern, Lucas Preuss und dessen 2. Frau Metta Iwersen. Portrait von ihm hängt im Rathaussaal. I don't have a lot on his descendents, particularly the male ones. If you have anything that might connect to this family I would be interested.
