Could it be Naumburg, southwest of Halle, in Sachsen-Anhalt? It hs an interesting cathedral and some old churches. But definitely not in Bavaria. Good hunting, Bill Jones.

Thanks for your surgestion! I might as well be right. I know it´s written "Naurnburg" in the 1900-census of Oslo (Kristiania), and that´s the only clue on her place of birth that I have.
