Have just received naturalization papers of my great-great-uncle and it states he was born in Massen or possibly Masson Germany. Family stated they were from Schleswig Holstein. Need help finding out where this is and what step to take next. Hoping information on this uncle will lead me to his family and thus my grandfather's information. Looking for information on Michael Pieper (Pfeiffer? and wife Louise Gorse (?) Pieper b:8 January 1826 Children Charles b: 8 Dec 1859, Herman b: ? Albert b: 26 Feb 1865, and Ferdinand b: 1846, and Hannah b: unk. Michael died in Germany and Louise married Ernest Wendt b: 25 Jan 1849. Ernest, Louise and Albert traveled to the US arriving New York from Hamburg 15 Sep 1884 on the SS Lessing. Any help greatly appreciated. Have never researched outside of U.S. before.
