Gisela, I have a copy of a birth certificate 1894 that just states the mother, date of birth, boy or girl, where, and person who, and where registered baby and name of Registrar. Person who transcribed for me wrote - This is the official birth certificate. It is nothing unusual. In a day and age when women delivered children at home with the help of midwives, there was no physician and/or hospital that made out birth certificates, but it was usually the father that went to authorities and gave notice. 21 days after the birth was recorded the Pastor came in and gave notice to the authorities as to what name the child was given. Another copy of birth certificate that states name of person, birth date and place, first and last name of father although the whole name is given in this case occupation and also the mothers full name The third is a little different giving the address of father, religion and the time baby born along with date. Marriage certificate gave name, religion, birthdate, where, and where he lives at this time (1919) name of father full name of mother and where they lived and they where they died. Wife to be name, occupation, religion, birth date, where and where living at present time. States she is the daughter of small farmer and full name of mother, maiden and married. Later full name of father and age. If they are all like this I would say the marriage certificate gave the most information. Hope this helps Betty
