    3. Hi Carol, I have been researching my husband's ancestors and his great grandparents (Christ and Maria Neuhaus) and family emigrated from Germany in 1867. I found them (I was lucky) on the ships transcriber list which showed that they left from Hamburg and arrived in New York 5 June 1867. Since that information said Hamburg to NY and not Hamburg to Havre to NY, that meant that they would be on the Direct list and not Indirect list (I hope you understand that). So my next step was to order the International Film from Salt Lake. I go to the nearest FHC and look at films. On the International film I found family born in Stelle and also the ages of everyone at the time they left from Hamburg. So that has given me some information. When I posted my query on the Holstein list, a fella in Germany contacted me who does research for a fee. I plan to eventually contact him again but have been waiting to see if I can learn any more information about that family. The more I can find, the less time that this researcher in Germany will have to spend, thus I will be able to pay him less. Meanwhile, hope that some of what I have done and found can help you. BTW, I had a friend named Ellen Abbott who passed away awhile ago. Her husband's name was Danny Abbott. Any relation?
