    3. Thanks for the reply; my budget allows NO-WHERE near $300? Maybe $50 to cover expenses and a "tip." WOW! ladybug Ford County, Illinois volunteer ----- Original Message ----- From: "D.L. Foreign research can be more expensive than you might expect, but understand that the researcher is a professional who works for an hourly fee, and must pay things like archive admittance fees, photocopying or photography of original records, travel/petrol costs, parking fees, etc. All the researchers I've used have been very good about detailing these costs in the estimate and final invoice. It wouldn't hurt to ask for an estimate to see whether you can afford a researcher's services. I got about twenty records for $400 in Schleswig-Holstein, and this information was vital to verify a particular connection between my immigrant ancestors and their births in Leck. But your needs may be far less and the costs could be much lower. Regards, Debra http://sakionline.net/familypage
