    3. I'm still asleep! I should have twigged that "ebel" was actually "ehel", an abbreviation for "eheliche" or "legitimate" in English. eg. "ehel. Sohn" is legitimate son. (and unehel. is the abbreviation for illegitimate). Having the words in context is also a great help.
