Hallo I am looking for information about Gertrud Margaretha Wetendorf, born in Fehmarn Germany 15 April 1850. She was working as "Dienstmagd" in Friedrichsort near Kiel and got twins (two boys Ferdinand and Friedrich) with my grand grandfather Ferdinand Heinrich Theodor Prüss 19 February 1879. The parents were not married and the children were left as "Kostkinds" to a man in Kiel. My grand grandfather moved to Sweden in February 1879 and married a 20 year older woman only a few months later. In 1882 he went to Germany and brought Ferdinand (Friedrich was dead) with him to Sweden, where he grew up. What happened with Gertrud Margaretha Wetendorf? She is in fact my grand grandmother! I have found in Family Search that a Gertrud Wetendorf married Frank Meyer in Manhattan New York 14 August 1886. The name of her parents is the same that I have found out as parents to "my" Gertrud Margaretha Wetendorf. Did she emigrate to Amerika? I can´t find her in any emigrationregisters. Try the web site www.fehmarn-genealogy.com. Gertud is listed, but they don't know where she died but it is given as the USA. I does look like good family data.
